Seattle Top 100 prospect commits to Akron

The No. 1 Akron Zips scored yet another victory Thursday when Pacific Northwest Region standout DeAndre Yedlin verbally committed to join the team in 2011.
Deandre YedlinYedlin, a member of the Seattle Sounders and 2010 participant in the Discover Europe™ Tour, is a fast and athletic midfielder with loads of potential. He’s currently rated No. 13 in our 2011 Top 100 Ranking.
He will join top prospects like Bryan Gallego, William Trapp, Kyle Culbertson and Andy Chiu on the Akron campus next year.
“I’m very excited,” Yedlin said. “Akron has an amazing team; huge dorms, a nice campus, great coaches, an amazing stadium and great players. Not to mention a very good 2011 class. I couldn’t ask for much more!”
Yedlin was approached by the program after a stint in U.S. U18 National camp last December. His other prospective schools included Virginia and Louisville before he ultimately decided on Akron.
