Tuesday marks the start of the Generation adidas Cup Girls Event.

Four All-Star teams of Girls Academy talent will battle it out against youth sides from Club America, FC Bayern, Real Madrid and a Japanese youth side.

Here are 10 breakout candidates to watch from the Girls Academy Generation adidas Cup rosters.

Olivia Berry, Spokane Shadow – A channel-running striker, Berry is a talented No. 9 who offers several strengths as a well-rounded forward. She can finish well with both feet, and is a willing runner who offers solid movement in behind.

Pia Vasquez, McLean YS – Another electric attacking player, the D.C.-native helped to spearhead a McLean side that finished its regular season unbeaten. She’s a dynamic player who can pull teams apart with her pace off the back shoulder of opposing defenders.

Kiana Puna, HTX Soccer – The attacking midfielder typically pulls the strings for HTX in league action. Getting on the same page as her teammates quickly will allow her to keep her team moving forward when the competition begins.

Julia Arimura, Fram SC – A tall defender with soft feet, Arimura is extremely versatile, capable of playing any position in a back four. She is elegant in possession and passes well under pressure.

Jasylene Ortega, Galaxy SC (IL) – Ortega’s 2010 Galaxy SC team is a good one, and she’s been at the heart of that success. She’s able to run the show with the ball at her feet, and also offers defensive cover without possession.

Victoria Christensen, Charlotte Independence SC – An All-Conference ECNL performer, Christensen earned a Generation adidas Cup All-Star nod by carrying that over with her team to the GA. The central midfielder is physically imposing, can switch the point of attack calmly or can connect play through tight areas.

Jackie Brownlee, SJEB FC – There’s an argument to be made that Brownlee already broke out at IMG Academy this year, leading her side to a strong performance at the Champions Cup. She’ll return to Florida as part of the Red team, looking to raise her game once again.

Ella Jaastad, Northern Virginia Alliance – A fullback who plays up with the 2009 NVA team, Jaastad offers quality and reliability on both sides of the ball. She’ll look to hit the ground running with the red team.

Emily Bernachea, Florida United – The 2012 striker is the youngest player on the All-Star rosters. She generally plays up with the 09 team and has trained with the Washington Spirit. A strong performance here against older, global opposition, would further a burgeoning reputation.

Amelia Walstad, TopHat Gold – More than half of the eight goalkeepers called in have earned a youth national team call-up at one point or another. Walstad isn’t among them, though she did play for the 2010 national team in the Olympic Development Program. She is a good athlete, moves well and has the frame to continue to emerge as a quality option for the class of 2029.

Addilyn Garman, City SC White – Fresh off helping her team win the 2010 Champions Cup, Garman returns to Bradenton along with four of her City SC teammates. She adds quality, dynamism and reliability to her right back spot.
