SLU camp gives players a college experience
February 22, 2011
It’s that time again.
The Saint Louis men’s soccer program is back with its impactful camp season. Beginning next month, players will be treated to a rewarding atmosphere that will aid in the success and development of their game.
Leading off the group of exclusive camps is the Billiken ID Camp, which takes place on the SLU campus on March 19-20.
“We are very excited to offer our first true I D camp,” said SLU men’s head coach Mike McGinty. “This will be an excellent opportunity for us to evaluate players serious about playing at the next level.”
The Billiken ID Camp has a unique curriculum that will be split into on-field training sessions and off the field learning activities. The main focus of the Billiken ID camp is about educating and preparing players for the college experience and has less focus placed on individual skill improvement.
On the field, campers will experience competitive games and realistic college training sessions ran by college coaches. Off of the field, campers will attend three different lectures that will cover the topics of recruiting, college game video breakdown and academics. There will also be a campus tour and an orientation of how a Billiken soccer player trains in the weight room.
