Boys ECNL Florida: Preview

The second National Event of the Boys ECNL club season kicks off on Friday from Sanford, Florida. The showcase event features some of the top teams from the U15 through U19 age groups. 

With the Division I recruiting dead period still on-going, these showcase events are becoming more important as ECNL is streaming every game for Division I coaches and Division II, Division III, and other college coaches are flooding the sidelines to get a look at potential new recruits. 

The Florida event showcases some of the top teams from Florida, Texas, Georgia, and other parts of the country. There are plenty of highly anticipated games from the three-day event ahead. 

U18/19 

There are 43 teams in Florida for the event in the U18/19 age group. Ohio Premier is one of the few teams there with a perfect record through the first few games of the season. OP is 2-0 in conference play after a pair of dominant wins. Ohio Premier kicks off the event on Friday against Charlotte SA National at 11:35 AM. They’ll also face United Futbol Academy and Solar SC during the event. 

FC Dallas is 12-0-1 on the season. The MLS Youth team takes on United Futbol Academy on the opening day of the competition. Bryce Boneau, a Notre Dame commit, and Reece Fragle are among the notable names on the FC Dallas U18/19 roster. FC Dallas also takes on Charlotte Independence Pro and La Roca during the weekend in Florida. 

Florida West FC is one of the local teams to watch at the event. Florida West is 4-1 on the season. They open up the event against FC Pride on Friday. They also take on Solar SC and United Futbol Academy. 

U17 

There are 45 teams signed up in the U17 age group for the event in Florida. Many of the teams are in the early part of the season and these three-game outings will be a big test for the depth of the teams. La Roca FC opened their campaign with a victory back in November, but has been left off the field since then. La Roca takes on Tennessee SC, FC Dallas, and Ohio Elite Soccer Academy during the event. 

Louisville City Academy started the season with a big 6-1 win back in November, but they have not played a game since then. Louisville takes on GSA on Friday at 9:45 am. They will also face Concorde Fire Platinum and NCFC Youth during the event. 

Eclipse Select SC is starting their season on Friday with the first day of the event. Eclipse opens up against Space Coast United. They will also face off against CESA and Pipeline SC.  Space Coast, one of the local favorites, is 4-1-1 on the season. Conner Floyd has been a standout in the attack for Space Coast in the past. 

U16 

Florida West FC is an impressive 5-0 on the season and sits in the top spot int he Champions League standings at this point of the season. Florida West opens up the event against FC Wisconsin, who is playing their first game of the season. Jack Wagner and James Dorchester have been ODP-level contributors for FC Wisconsin in the past. Florida West also takes on Charlotte SA National and Concorde Fire Platinum at the event. 

Florida Elite is 3-0 to start the season. They take on Vardar, NCFC Youth Academy, and Minnesota Thunder during the event. Florida Elite has only conceded two goals from those three games. The tough defense will be something to watch at the event against three talented teams. Arijan Batovac scored all three goals for Florida Elite in their last game. Gunnar Lanham is in charge of the defense as the goalkeeper of the team. He has three victories and one shutout so far this season in ECNL play. 

U15 

There are only 23 teams in the U15 age group in Florida for the event. Some of the top teams to watch are the local squads. FL Premier and Florida Kraze are both perfect in ECNL conference play this season. 

FL Premier (7-0) opens up the event against NCFC Youth Academy.FL Premier also takes on Pipeline SC and NC Fusion during the event. Premier went 1-2 at the last event, in South Carolina, and will be hoping to bounce back at this event. Cameron Harris and Adrianos Papadimitirou were the goal scorers in their last game. 

Florida Kraze (5-0) take on Charlotte SA National, NC Fusion, and NTH-NASA during the event. Kraze have scored 25 goals in five victories this season. The potent attack will be hard to slow down.
