Cruz Medina Signs with San Jose Earthquakes
Top U.S. midfield prospet Cruz Medina is staying in the Bay Area.
After training earlier this year with Bayern Munich, Medina has signed a Homegrown contract with the San Jose Earthquakes.
“Cruz is an incredibly talented young individual that we think very highly of, and we have a plan in place to maximize his potential here in San Jose,” Earthquakes General Manager Chris Leitch said in a press release. “I’d like to thank all of the coaches within the Quakes Academy as well as Cruz’s parents, Antonio and Laura, for developing him into the person and player he is today.”
Welcome to the Black and Blue 🖤💙

No. 14 in the 2025 Boys IMG Academy Player Rankings, Medina is a central midfielder that originally joined the San Jose Academy back in 2019. Prior to joining the MLS Academy setup, he played for BayCity and the San Francisco Glens. The 15-year-old should be a central figure in the U.S. Under-17 MNT for the 2023 World Cup cycle, and has been called up to various camps over the past six months.
