Dallas set to be the center of youth soccer
Over the next week, North Texas is set to become the center of the youth soccer world.
Between the Generation adidas Cup kicking off Saturday, Dallas Cup and its four-team age group girls invitational – and the Dallas International Girls Cup – it’s a big week for soccer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Chris Hayden, Vice President of Youth Soccer at FC Dallas, is looking forward to it.
“It's a big week for Dallas,” he told TopDrawerSoccer. “I would say the city of Dallas has been instrumental in youth soccer in the States for 40-plus years, because of the Dallas Cup, and more recently because of the GA Cup.”
For boys soccer, the Dallas Cup towers over the Generation adidas Cup in terms of history. As Hayden noted, it began in the early 80s, and has featured some of the world’s biggest clubs over the past four decades.
