The Black Rock FC Experience

In January 2025, Black Rock FC spent nine unforgettable days in Costa Rica on a custom tour with Propella.

Their journey began in Guanacaste, where they arrived via Liberia International Airport and stayed in a beachfront hotel. There, the team trained directly on the sand, played a competitive match against the youth academy of Guanacasteca FC, and explored the best of the Pacific coast — including Playa Flamingo and Playa Tamarindo. One of the trip’s early highlights was a day at Diamante Eco Adventure Park, where players zip-lined over jungle canopy and took in ocean views.

They then traveled to San José, the capital, where the level of competition stepped up. Black Rock faced off against the high-performance squad of Alajuelense, one of Costa Rica’s top clubs, and competed at the club’s world-class Centro de Alto Rendimiento. They also played a match at the iconic National Stadium of Costa Rica.

In between matches, the team attended a talk with Diego Campos, a professional player for Alajuelense and former NCAA standout, who shared insights on the journey from youth football to the pro ranks.

The trip concluded with a visit to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, where players explored lush trails, viewed spectacular waterfalls, and encountered Costa Rica’s incredible wildlife — from jaguars and toucans to monkeys and butterflies.
