Florida team headlined by double hat-trick
Here is the Team of the Month for the Florida Region.
Remember, this feature is to honor top performers in their region across the span of age groups. There will be a boys' list and a girls' list, and a new region will be covered every weekday, Tuesday through Friday of each month. You can submit nominations at teamofthemonth@topdrawersoccer.com
Here is the Boys list, in no particular order.
Brian James, Weston FC U18 Academy (FL), Midfield: Brian posted two hat tricks in Academy play in the first half of June. He scored all three goals in Weston FC Academy U18’s 3-1 win over Birmingham United and scored in the 2nd, 26th, and 35th minutes of Weston’s 8-1 win over Atlanta Fire United.

Jake Weiss, Team Boca U18 (FL), Defender: Jake, a member of Team Boca’s 2011 Florida State Cup team, is a very athletic attacking defender with deceptive speed moving the ball out of the back. The versatile Weiss played defense, midfield and forward for his Jupiter High School squad posting 20 goals and 8 assists for the 2010-2011 season.
Ronald Garcia-Hernandez, Team Boca U18 (FL), Forward: Ronald is a crafty forward with great pace who provided Team Boca with two goals during their 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer Region III tournament campaign. The four-year starter and team captain for Suncoast Community High School was the Chargers' 2010-2011 leading scorer with 31 goals and 14 assists.
Eric Tarmey, Team Boca U18 (FL), Midfield: Eric, a creative midfielder who has the pace to both initiate the attack and get back to defend provided the second goal in Team Boca’s 2-0 win over Brentwood (TN) 93 Premier at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III tourney.
Conor Hagan, Team Boca U18 (FL), Defender: Conor is a physical, athletic, Central Defender with great vision and read of the game who played greatly in Team Boca’s 0-0 and 2-0 games at the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships. The 2012 graduate is uncommitted at present but being tracked by a number of schools.
Kevin Byrne, Royal Palm Beach Strikers U15 Black (FL), Midfield/Defender: Byrne was one of 30 Florida state players chosen to attend the Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP) training camp. The 6-foot-2, 14 year old Byrne – who was the only freshman starter on his Seminole Ridge High School squad - is especially dangerous on throw-ins, sometimes tossing them as far as 40 yards.
Jean Rivaroli, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Forward: Jean was the leading scorer in U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships with seven goals and named U17 Boys Division MVP. Jean is an extremely intelligent player who holds the ball well up top and puts himself in excellent positions to score goals. Jean has a knack for reading the game well in the box and putting himself in right position to put the ball in the back of the net.
Juan Fajarjo, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Goalkeeper: Juan started 5 of the 6 games played at U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships giving up a total of 2 goals over 5 games for a .4 goals against average to earn him the U17 boys division Golden Gloves honor. Juan is a strong presence in the back and provides many counter attack opportunities the Florida Rush U17s with his strong and accurate ball distribution.
Felipe Oliveria, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Forward/Mid: Felipe is a creative forward/attacking midfielder. He was an indirect catalyst in setting up a portion of the 14 goals scored – including an exceptional performance in the 5-0 win over Cobb FC Premier (GA) – during the Florida Rush U17B’s run to win the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championship. Felipe excels in 1 v 1 situations, excels with the ball at his feet and has an uncanny ability to get in behind the defense and make things happen.
Adam Tran, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Center/Outside Midfield: Adam is a very smart and technical player who is creative on the ball and plays in the center or outside midfield. Adam scored two goals in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III tournament including the spectacular game winning goal in the 91st minute to secure the Florida Rush Soccer U17 boys Championship by a score of 2-1 over Tulsa SC.
Jose Belalczar, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Defender: Jose is a marking back who played majority of minutes over six games and part of a back line that gave up only 3 goals in six games. He is an athletic marking back who has the ability to defend well in 1 v 1 situations and the pace to keep up with the many of the top forwards and quickest player during the Rush U17 Boys charge to the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championship.
Following is the Girls List, in no particular order.
Jessica McClernan, Florida Soccer Club (FL) U15, Goalkeeper: Jessica posted 1079 consecutive scoreless minutes en route to her team’s Regional Cup Championship.
Holly Turcich, Florida Soccer Club (FL) U15, Defender: Holly, a defensive force recorded nearly 50 tackles over an 11 game shutout span on the way to her team’s Regional cup Championship.
Tatiana Coleman, Team Boca (FL) U18, Forward: Tatiana was her team’s co-leader in goals scored with six at the Region III Championships and was named the Most Valuable Player. She is a tremendous goal scoring force, a blistering shot, and possesses exceptional speed and vision with the ball at her feet.

Monterae Carter, Team Boca (FL) U18, Goalkeeper: Monterae was tested by some high scoring offenses during the 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championship but she held strong as she and Team Boca went undefeated in six games and her efforts were awarded with the prestigious Golden Glove honor.
Jennifer Martin, Team Boca (FL) U18, Midfield: Jennifer is a talented and versatile athlete who can play any position on the field. Jennifer moved from midfield to defense during the Region III tourney taking on the task of marking the opposition’s key goal scorers. Jennifer executed her role perfectly by frustrating and shutting down several highly touted forwards and then using her midfield skills to initiate Boca’s attack from the back.
Patricia Evans, Plantation Eagles FC (FL) U17, Outside Back: Pat has worked extremely hard over the past year and has made the Florida ODP team and will represent the state of Florida at the Region camp this summer.
Katie Landry, Plantation Eagles FC (FL), U16, Center Mid/Center Back: Katie has made a full recovery from ACL injury and has made a huge impact in for the Eagles. She received a lot of attention from several Universities during the Houston Shootout earlier this month.
Connor Lhota, Plantation Eagles FC (FL), U13, Midfielder: Connor is one of the Eagle U13’s younger players that has progressed tremendously. She is very good technical player that continues to get better and accepts every challenge sent her way.
Jaida Scott, Plantation Eagles FC (FL), U13 (playing up as a U11), Midfield/Forward/Defense: Jaida has been in the program since U9. She has been a tremendous leader and always seems to rise to the occasion. She has played two ages up, played with boys, and is fearless on the pitch.
Sabrina Chung, Palm Beach MagicJacks U14, Forward: In Florida State Cup Play, Sabrina scored 1 goal 1 assist in the MagicJacks’ 2-0 quarter-final win, 1 assist in their 2-0 semi-final win, and 2 goals and 1 assist in the 5-0 Florida State Cup. Sabrina draws the top 1 and sometimes 2 defenders, but she still finds a way to produce by scoring or assisting. She assisted or scored the first goal in all 3 games above.
Mayra Pelayo, Palm Beach MagicJacks U14, Midfield/Forward: In the MagicJacks’ run to the Florida State Cup, Mayra produced 1 goal in the semi-final and 2 goals in cup final. Mayra excels on set pieces scoring both goals in the final on free-kicks Both Sabrina Chung and Mayra Pelayo played as eighth graders on the American Heritage Delray High School team that won the school's second straight Florida State Girls High School Championship.
Kylie Borislow, Palm Beach MagicJacks U14, Midfield/Forward: In Florida U14 State Cup play, Kylie scored 1 goal in both the quarter-final and semi-final and an assist in the Florida State Cup final. Both of Kylie’s goals came off of beautiful headers – one a diving header.
