The TeamRank National Championship is a unique rankings setup that only includes team performance from the current season. It begins with events in August and ends with final events in July, at which point a new competition begins and the slate is again wiped clean. Each ranking is only for that August to July season.
“The competition that we face has helped us become a stronger team,” said PDA Charge Head Coach Mike O’Neill. “Playing in the ECNL has allowed us to add more players and added a sense of competition throughout the team, both in games and practices.”
The increase of players meant that O’Neill has been able to fortify his team in all positions, and create versatility when facing any type of opponent.
Defender Christa Camassa, midfielder Emily Damstrom, and forwards Rachel Cole, Cassidy Benintente, and Catherine Zimmerman have given a strong dynamic to the team that currently leads the ECNL U17 table.
O’Neill also mentioned Stephanie Campo, Corey DeLaney, and Nicole Driesse as players instrumental to the team’s success.
“We have a lot of talented players and the team chemistry is fantastic. They have the best mentality, working everyday and doing stuff on their own,” O’Neill said. “The key is that we know we’re a good team, but we aren’t satisfied in just being good. We want to be the best that we can be, and every time we step onto the field, we take a lot of pride.”
The teams leading the older age groups include Oklahoma side Hurricane FC (U16), Illinois side NSA Premier (U17) So Cal Blues (U18).
