Over the last eight months, Pro Prospects has featured a number of the players who are bursting onto the scene for clubs in Europe. This week’s edition provides an update on some of those players now that the new club soccer season has finally started rolling along.

Ben Lederman Promoted at FC Barcelona

After making an appearance with the U.S. U14 Boys National Team in August, 12-year-old Ben Lederman headed back to Spain to join his club team FC Barcelona. The Southern California-native is now playing with Infantil B at La Masia, the storied youth academy for the Catalan giants.

Two weeks ago, Lederman was highlighted as Man of the Match by the Barcelona-centric website totalbarca.com for his standout play in a 1-0 win over La Floresta.

“Ben was one of few players who managed to carve out openings for his teammates due to his ability to quickly transition the game from midfield to attack,” an author wrote on totalbarcain a report. “Being the first American in La Masia, there are a lot of expectations on Ben and so far he hasn’t disappointed.”

Kyle Scott and Chelsea U15 rack up awards

Chelsea FC captured the Premier League U15 International Tournament in late September thanks to the standout play U.S. U15 Boys National Team midfielder Kyle Scott.

Scott had the game-winner against Tottenham in pool play for the Blues, which topped West Bromwich Albion 3-2 in the final on September 30.

The exciting U.S. prospect was born in 1997, which is an off year for the U17 World Cup cycle, but Scott remains in the conversation for upcoming camps.

Julian Green trains with Bayern Munich’s first team

Tampa Bay born winger Julian Green continues to see his stock rise at Bayern Munich. Two weeks ago, Green trained for a few days and played in a scrimmage with the first team at the historic German club.

Over the weekend, Green scored a goal in Bayern Munich U19’s 3-4 loss to FSV Frankfurt. It was Green’s first goal of the season in eight appearances. The German American received his first call-up to the U.S. U18 Men’s National Team in September where he started and scored in a 4-2 win over the Netherlands.

Piakai Henkel, also a former player highlighted in the Pro Prospects series, started that game as well. Henkel now plays with Amiens FC in France after spending a couple of years with Paris Saint-Germain.

Le Mans U.S. Teenager continues to excel

Striker Maki Tall had two assists for Le Mans U19 in a 3-1 win over Racing Colombes 92 on Saturday. Two weeks ago, Tall had the game-winning goal for Le Mans in a 2-1 result over Bauvais.

The 16-year-old, who was born in Washington D.C., has yet to receive a call-up to a U.S. youth national team, but remains open to the possibility.
