It’s the time of year that’s both exciting and maddening for players and coaches alike – it’s college visit time. And for the U17 So Cal Blues, the process of selecting a school for higher education has had a profound effect on their team, in ways both positive and challenging.
First, let’s start with the standouts who have recently taken college recruiting trips:
Haley Rosen (pictured on front) – She has visited Texas
, Texas A&M(w), Santa Clara
. The center midfielder has U.S. National team experience and brings both a technical side and strong physical presence. She’s a great prospect for the next level.
Lauren Bohaboy – Likely has a trip to UCLA
coming up and has already graced the campus’ of Notre Dame
One of the best forwards in the country, Bohaboy had a good showing at Adidas ESP earlier this year alongside other stars like Abby Smith
, Kaysie Clark, Kate Perry, Natalie Hanson, Taylor Smith
and Cate Parchinski.
Kelly McCormick – In the just the last three weeks, this skilled goalkeeper has made trips to Mississippi
along with Texas A&M(w). She continues to play well and establish herself in net.
“We’re playing with about 11 players most games, between the visits and then sickness and injury. Last weekend we had 10 and won,” said coach Randy Dodge. “College is important, so they’re missing some games for the right reasons. This is a great squad that has been together and loves to compete. No matter who’s out there this team plays well together.”
Kaylie Davidson, who has returned from injury and appears to be in top form – playing a strong game against Wolfpack in Coast Soccer League action last weekend – will help the Blues tremendously. Particularly with players shuffling in and out of the lineup due to those college visits.
