Our new club soccer Players To Watch Team of the Month feature begins this week, and we’re giving you the chance to be involved in nominating players for these regional and national honors.

Here how it works: Each month we will honor a group of players in each of our 16 regions around the country. A new region will be highlighted each weekday, Tuesday through Friday at TopDrawerSoccer.com.  With each region, there will be a list of boys players and a list of girls players, selected for their performances in the previous month (approximately). At the end of the month, we will publish a list of national honorees, taken from standouts among the regional lists.

Our staff is already contacting teams from around the country to find out who is doing the business on the field. This, as you can imagine, is a pretty large project and we are not so naïve to think we can learn about every possible nominee on our own. So here’s where you come in.

Email us at teamofthemonth@topdrawersoccer.com with your nominee(s). The information should include the player’s name, age group, team, hometown and a little bit about why they should be honored for the given month. We want players from ALL positions, so be sure to let us know more than just the statistically quantifiable (goals and assists) as you make nominations.

These monthly regional lists will not be infinite, so there are no guarantees your nominee will be selected, but it will help us know what’s going on and this will definitely help us in our ongoing efforts to upgrade the Players To Watch regional and national rankings (one of the main reasons we are doing this, actually).

Also, if the player you are nominating is not even in our database, you can submit them. Don’t nominate anonymously, but as with all of our referrals, for TeamRank and Players To Watch rankings, your identity as a nominator will be protected by our staff.

So don’t just sit there, tell us who should we should be honoring for June (and previous months). We start Tuesday with the Mid Atlantic region, followed by Pennsylvania, Midwest and Northern California & Hawaii, then on to the rest.
