Score one for the Miami (FL) recruiting team.

When Top 100 prospect Gianna Dal Pozzo made her campus visit to the Hurricanes this past summer she was treated to an experience that few young players could resist.

“It was an amazing trip. The FC Barcelona team was actually using Miami’s practice field and I was fortunate to see them play at the Sun Life stadium with my mom,” Dal Pozzo explained.

“I met with the head football, and basketball coaches – I felt honored that they took the time to talk to me – and I also met future teammate Jasmine Paterson who I know she is an awesome player and addition to the team. All the pieces came together. What a great timing for a visit.”

The other programs vying for Dal Pozzo barely stood a chance. The No. 65 ranked player in our 2013 Top 100, Dal Pozzo was compelled to commit to the Hurricanes for reasons beyond just an awesome visit.

The Team Chicago (Botofogo) midfielder knew she wanted to take her talents to the ACC, and it didn’t hurt that Miami offers a nice warm alternative to frigid Chicago winters.

The climate was actually a key factor that separated Miami from other prospects like Kentucky, Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Dal Pozzo will bring a versatile game to the college level that thrives best in possession style. She has a great head on her shoulders and is clear on what she plans to provide to the Hurricanes.

“I am going to help my team attack, and to be a playmaker,” she said. “Some of my strengths are winning 50/50 balls out of the middle, 1v1 defending, and having vision of the whole field. I think all of these skills will be an attribute to Miami and help them progress in the ACC.”
