Eight of the top teams in the ECNL are set to travel to the home of the KC Current this weekend to compete in the Teal Rising Elite Cup.

VDA, St. Louis Scott Gallagher, XF Academy, GSA, Slammers FC HB Koge and the Michigan Hawks will travel to compete against each other and local sides Sporting Blue Valley and KC Athletics. Games will begin on June 5, with a final slated for June 7.

A knockout-style tournament will feature mainly players from 2010-2012 age groups. Several players will head to this weekend fresh off of competing at ECNL NC. Here are some of the players to watch.

Anna Change, VDA – The 2010/2029 grad is coming off a different level at Bryan Park, hitting the ground running after VDA’s ECNL season was on hold for high school soccer. Change is a big and strong forward/winger who is light on her feet. Competing in front of pro scouts is sure to open up new opportunities for her.

Molly Hill, St. Louis Scott Gallagher – Like a handful of other players traveling, SLSG gets to use this weekend as a competitive tune-up after not having any ECNL games in the spring. Hill is an athletic outside back who graduates in 2029.

Chloe Steinburg, XF Academy – A talented defender plays centrally for the XF Academy 2010 team. Steinburg will relish the opportunity to compete against other top attackers making the trip.

Tyana Thomas, GSA – The forward earned All-American honors last summer and leads the line for the GSA attack. She’s able to drop into space and make plays as well, connecting offense with her talented teammates such as Nolyn Herron, Ava Burnside, Morgan Mitchell and others.

Emery Beerends, Sporting Blue Valley – SBV is the technical host of the weekend, and Beerends is one of the players likely to spearhead the attack.

Ella Bears, KC Athletics – A clever and creative attacking midfielder, Bears is good at connecting play, able to find pockets of space and run at defenders with the ball. She can finish from range and pick out her teammates with the right pass.

Zoe Piper, Slammers FC HB Koge – The forward was excellent in North Carolina. A big, dynamic winger, she can trouble opposing teams with her runs in behind, and can also come in and connect.

Caroline Walsh, VDA – An industrious and pesky ball-winning midfielder, Walsh does some of the dirty work in central spaces that allows the likes of Ryder White and Change to thrive. That’ll be crucial this weekend.

Riley Neves, Slammers FC HB Koge – A defender from the SoCal side, Neves is a physical and combative player who can snuff out the best attackers.

Emily Hoellrich, GSA – The Southeast Conference squad is backed by Hoellrich in central defense. With ample options going forward, Hoellrich will need to be sharp when the games begin.

Jilliane Bischoff, Michigan Hawks – A winger/outside back, Bischoff is a trap year 09 set to compete at this event. She can get into space and unleash a powerful shot and will be a nice addition to an already talented Hawks roster that features a lot of their 2010 team.

Addison Webb, KC Athletics – Making the trip from Tulsa to compete for her club side, Webb comes into this weekend fresh off winning a state championship in Oklahoma. An attacking player, she’ll look to help fire her squad to a deep run.

Georgia Restovich, St. Louis Scott Gallagher – The 2009 national team player should be among the top players at the event. Her ability to create and play make will be a big boost for the SLSG team.

Hayden Schneider, Sporting Blue Valley – One of SBV’s goalkeepers rostered from the 2010 team, Schneider will look to show off her shot-stopping skills against dynamic opposition.

Lexi King, Michigan Hawks – A wide attacker who relentlessly pressures the ball, King is a sharp finisher who can cause problems in a variety of ways. She is a wily and technical operator who connects well with her talented 2010 teammates.

Conaleigh Holub, XF Academy – The industrious and hard-working outside back will look to blank the opposition numbers when she takes the field.
