The Eagles Soccer Club (Camarillo, California) U19 team is seeking to become only the third girls’ team in the 75 year history of US Youth Soccer championships to be crowned National Champion three times.   No girls’ team ever has won more than three titles.

Of the more than a quarter million girls’ teams that have competed in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, which dates back to 1935, only the Northern California Central Valley Mercury team in 1996-98 and Colorado Rush in 1999-2001 have been crowned champion more than twice.  The Eagles won in 2004 and 2007.

To reach the 2009 National Championship finals, to be held July 20-26 in Lancaster, Massachusetts, the Eagles must prevail at the Far West Regionals, where they will vie with state champions from each of the other eleven western states.  The Eagles, who earned a place at Regionals by winning their fourth state title in six years, open play on Monday, June 15 against the Montana state champion Electric City Thunderboltz.  The next day the Eagles meet Arizona titleholder, SC del Sol White.  They complete pool play the following afternoon against the Oregon state champion, Westside Metros Galaxy.  Quarterfinal action is on Friday, June 19, with the semi-finals and finals slated for June 20 & 21.

(TopDrawerSoccer.com will have a special LIVE event on June 19 including updates from Region IV; you can find results for all four regionals and nationals right here).
