U.S. squad finished 2-2 on International Tour
February 21, 2010

The U.S. Club Soccer id2 National Selection team concluded its international tour that took the group through the Netherlands and Germany, a voyage that included exciting cultural sites and great competition.

The American team finished with a 2-2 record, posting wins against clubs Quick Den Haag C1 (Netherlands) and AFC Ajax C1 (Netherlands) before taking losses to PSV Eindhoven C1 (Netherlands) and BVB Dortmund C1 (Germany).

In part two of our inside look at the National Selection team’s players, we breakdown a second portion of the lineup that took part in this exclusive experience.

M Walker Dawkins (West Pines): Said to be one of the top five talents on the select squad. Not the biggest player, he has a ferocious work rate and along with natural sped and quickness. A good tackler, he has great recovery skills and is very technically sound.

M Justin Fiddes (San Diego Surf): Came on in the second half of most of the games. He was very active in playing the ball but could have stood to be more sound in his decision making. Good spunk, however.

D David Mejia (Weston FC): Played a lot of right back and really enjoyed having the ball at his feet. Mejia is a smaller player but has really good technical ability and is a player that hunts the ball for better or worse.

D Dolu Oyewole (Freestate SA): Displayed as much raw skill as any player on the tour. He is left-footed and extremely athletic but could stand to develop in other ways. Right now he’s more of a reaction back, but as he matures and grows he’ll be able to read the game better tactically

M Benny Swanson (Team Ohio): Swanson is a dependable guy who makes a lot of the simple plays. He keeps possession and is accurate with his passing to teammates.

D Wesley Wade (New Jersey Rangers): Wade has special physical tools in his size and athleticism and he showed off his ability with a goal during the action. He could be more consistent in his effort, however, and focus on consistently completing his runs.
