USYS Girls National League Continues
After three days of intense competition, the Under-17 Girls champion has been determined and the nation’s top teams in the US Youth Soccer National League Under-15 through Under-17 Girls have wrapped up play until they meet again March 13-15 in Las Vegas.
The Under-15 and Under-16 Girls age groups will determine League champions when play resumes in Las Vegas. The top two teams, from each age group, advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships, and the top four teams, from each age group, secure a spot to return to National League play the following season.
The US Youth Soccer National League competition is for the nation's top teams in the Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 boys and girls age groups, consisting of a total of eight teams per gender age group. The National League offers additional exposure to collegiate, professional and U.S. National Team coaches and offers top notch competition.
Under-15
The League is known for its competitive nature and steep competition, and that has been exemplified in the Under-15 Girls age group where 13 out of 22 games played in the age group have ended in a draw. Today counted two of those draws.
Dallas Texans 94 Red (NTX) and Michigan Hawks 94-Black (MI) ended in a 1:1 tie. Mary Alissa Lonsberry hit a 39th minute goal for the Texans and Monika Lee hit the 80th minute equalizer for the Hawks.
D’Feeters (NTX) and NSA Fury (IL) also closed with 1:1 draw. Zoe Swift gave the Fury an initial 1:0 lead, but Grace Summers put the D’Feeters on the board in the 71st minute.
Under-16
A single goal from Jana Jeffrey in the 9th gave Dallas Texans 93 G Red (NTX) a 1:0 victory over Scorpions Elite (MA) today.
Under-17
A first-minute opening goal from Courtney Smith gave the Dallas Texans 92 Red (NTX) a very early lead over Eclipse Select 91-92 (IL). The teams continued to battle it out, but neither team was able to score until the 74th minute when Natasha Anasi netted one for the Texans. The 2:0 Texans victory determined the Texans as the US Youth Soccer National League Under-17 Girls Champions.
It was a 1:1 draw between BVSC Stars Mallorca 91-92 (KS) and Ela Elite (IL) today. Ela scored in the 14th with a Sarah Stauner goal and Bekah White scored in the 64th for BVSC.
Play for the National League Girls resumes March 13-15 at the Bettye Wilson Fields in Las Vegas.
