Who will replace Claudio Reyna at USSF?

The vision of U.S. Soccer will remain the same, but the man at the pinnacle is going to change.

On Wednesday, U.S. Soccer Youth Technical Director Claudio Reyna resigned from his position to take a spot in the front office with newly formed MLS club New York City FC, which will not begin play until 2015

Reyna, while not as heavily involved as he once was, had an important role in overseeing the growth and maturation of the U.S. Soccer Curriculum over the past two years. He was a strong advocate of the cohesive playing style between every age group and had a role in the hiring of some of new youth national coaches brought in recently.

With Reyna’s departure, USSF will be faced with the task of finding an individual who fits the same profile and has relatively the same beliefs in how players should be developed from the youngest ages.

It is not an easy task, but there are some candidates out there that could fill the void and keep pushing U.S. Soccer toward a better model for player development.
