ECNL Weekend Recap March 16-18
March 20, 2012
This past weekend’s Jefferson Cup offered a platform for several ECNL teams to play each other in one place.

FC DELCO’s U16s were one of many teams to make the trip south, and the team came away from the three days in Richmond, Virginia with a 2-0-1 record.

In the first game on Friday, set pieces were the key for Philadelphia-area side DELCO, as they scored three goals from dead balls to beat Freestate Soccer Alliance 4-3. Devyn Hannis and Tayler Jamison were among the goal scorers.

After a 1-0 win on Saturday over the Richmond Strikers – where FC DELCO shut out Richmond’s high scoring forward Elizabeth Ball and a goal from Kristina Zahan to grab the win – Tayler Jamison’s penalty snatched a draw on Sunday against FC Virginia.

“I think this weekend proves the fact that we have a lot of depth on our team,” FC DELCO head coach Nick Chrisanthon told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “Everyone getting a lot of minutes and sharing the workload is a huge difference for us. Being able to share that gives us an opportunity to be a little fresher and more consistent.”

Despite the setback on Friday, Freestate Soccer Alliance was able to bounce back the rest of the weekend, winning 2-0 over FC Virginia, and wrapping up the weekend with a big 5-1 win over the Strikers.

There was plenty of action elsewhere, as Carmel United defeated FC Milwaukee 3-0 and Sereno Soccer Club picked up a pair of wins out west, beating Las Vegas Premier 1-0 and Heat FC 3-1.
