Bulls Shut Out at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, NY - Paced by three goals in the first 41 minutes of play, the Stony Brook Seawolves (5-2) beat the Buffalo men's soccer team 4-0 Sunday afternoon. The loss moves UB to 1-6-1 on the season, and marks the final road non-conference game of the season.

The host Seawolves scored first in the 18th minute of the game off a free kick from 25 yards out by Leonardo Fernandes. Just under 15 minutes later, Fernandes would strike again in the 33rd minute after taking a pass and chipping it over UB goalie Jonathan Viscosi. Stony Brook would add another goal in the 42nd minute to put the Bulls down three heading into the half.

Viscosi and the Buffalo defense would get unlucky with the fourth goal yielded. In the 68th minute, off a corner kick, Viscosi made the initial save by could not stop the put back by Martin Giordano. For the game, Stony Brook put just five of its 16 total shots on goal, but held UB to just eight total shots for the game.

Maksym Kowal led the team with three shots in the game, with Richard Craven attempting two and putting one on frame. The Bulls did draw more corner attempts than Stony Brook (7-3), but could not convert on any of the set pieces.

The Bulls will now return to the friendly confines of UB Stadium for its final non-conference home games of the season. First up will be Friday evening against SUNY rival Albany at 7 pm, with a Sunday afternoon match against Robert Morris to cap the weekend at 3 pm.
