The Central Methodist University Men’s Soccer program has set itself apart from the rest of collegiate soccer, becoming the winningest program in any division of college soccer the last four seasons. The program boasts a 91-6-2 overall record in their last 99 games and have been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA for the better part of the last three seasons.Prior to the 2020 campaign, Massey Ratings tabbed the program as the No. 4 soccer team in the United States across all collegiate divisions.

CMU Men’s Soccer represents top high school, clubs, and academy levels within the United States as well as being very diverse internationally. Central Methodist has represented players who have come from top international academies all over the world such as PSG, great leagues such as the Bundesliga, along with several youth national team players from across the globe.

With very aggressive style of soccer, unique system, and most importantly, top tier student athletes; CMU’s program looks to build upon four consecutive trips to the national semifinals including two national titles in 2018 and 2019. In the last four years, the Eagles have tallied 23 All Americans, the 2018 National Player of the Year, and numerous Conference Defensive, Offensive, and Player of the Year awards. The coaching staff has been recognized with numerous accolades including two United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the year awards, multiple Regional Staff of the year awards, two Select Sport National Coach of the year awards & four Heart of America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year awards.

“A lot of special student athletes have set the standard and high expectations for the men’s soccer program at CMU," said head coach Alex Nichols. “Our future recruiting classes look to uphold and progress upon that standard.”

While the program looks to build on its championships & national prestige, a goal of CMU Men’s Soccer is to get as many players recognized by USL 1, USL Championship, MLS Next and MLS teams.

“We want our student-athletes to have more opportunities within professional soccer and, within their degree path, ensure they have a great deal of choice when the time comes," Nichols said. "The more pro soccer, degree based, job opportunities our student athletes have, the better! We are on the right track, but the more offers and opportunities in all areas, the better.”

A great way to be seen and recruited is to participate in CMU’s ID camps. Here, prospective student-athletes can be seen by the CMU coaching staff along with other college coaches in attendance.

“Attending our ID camps at Central Methodist allows us the opportunity to assess and guide players both live and in person," Nichols added. "This is key to our multi-faceted way of recruiting. To maintain a top-quality program, the key is to find top quality student athletes who are great players with high character, work ethic, and a goal-oriented mindset.”
