On the heels of the start of the Major League Soccer season, MLS NEXT Pro is set to launch its sixth campaign.
Detractors may lament the overall quality of the league, though as the weekend showcased, there is still a relevant pathway from academy or second team into the first via NEXT Pro.
Look no further than last year’s MLS NEXT Pro standout Sam Sarver. After four years at Indiana(m), he was drafted by FC Dallas at the end of 2024. Going on to score 14 goals in 18 games for North Texas SC in 2025, he enters the new campaign on a first-team contract with FC Dallas.
