Faith Preziosi Earns Second Straight Award
NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday, Oct. 8. For the second straight week, and the third time this season, Iona College women's soccer freshman Faith Preziosi has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
Preziosi scored a career-best two goals against the Rider Broncs on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd. Junior Ciara Guglielmo assisted on both goals. Preziosi now leads Iona with five goals this season. Guglielmo is the only Gael student-athlete with more than one assist this season. Both she and Preziosi rank top-two in shots taken for Iona. Preziosi's .250 shot on goal percentage is the best on Iona.
Preziosi was named the MAAC rookie of the week on Aug. 20 and last week, Oct. 1.
The Maroon & Gold freshman forward ranks top-10 in the MAAC in goals (5) and second among all first year players. Niagara's Annie Ibey has six goals to lead all freshman.
The Gaels return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at home on Mazzella Field against the Fairfield Stags. The game is being broadcasted on ESPN3.
