Iona Has 14 Named To MAAC All-Academic Team
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the 2017 Women's Soccer All-Academic Team. The Iona College program had 14 student-athletes earn the distinction.
To qualify for the All-Academic Team, student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The Gael representatives include seniors Marisa Bentley, Julia Campagna, Marissa Dundas, Anna Higdon, Tiffany Martinez, Christine Rebus, and Charlotte Stuart. Junior Corinne Burns, Sara Mangialardi and Megan Wood are going by sophomores Mariah Elsenheimer, Treloara Harrison, Madeleine Lessard and Julia Peschetti.
Rebus, Wood, Dundas, Bentley, Campagna and Burns are all repeat All-Academic Team honorees.
Manhattan College placed a league-best 16 student-athletes on the All-Academic team followed by Canisius College, Quinnipiac University, and Siena College, all of whom had 15 student-athletes receive All-Academic team recognition. Iona and Niagara University each had 14 student-athletes named, while Fairfield University and Marist College both had 12 honorees. Monmouth University and Rider University each had 11 student-athletes honored. Saint Peter's University rounds out the All-Academic team with five honorees.
