MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Playing in its final non-conference road game of the season, the Lipscomb women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Alabama State on Friday night in Montgomery, Ala.

The Lady Bisons (2-4-2, 0-0-0 ASUN) controlled the contest with 21 shots but the Lady Hornets (2-5-0, 0-0-0 SWAC) hit the shot that mattered.

Playing to a scoreless first half, LU goalkeeper Erin Zerio stopped both shots that landed on goal while the Lady Bisons aimed one shot on goal.

Lipscomb took control early in the second half, attempting seven shots in the first 10 minutes of play. Kameron Stilwell and Caroline Chadwell both had opportunities land on the cross bar. Molly Bray had a shot dead on but was pushed over the top of the goal by ASU goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway.

The Lady Hornets struck in the 56th minute as India Pleasant received a pass from Stephanie Howard at the top of the 18-yard box and slid the ball past the attacking Lady Bison defense.

The Purple and Gold fired six more shots in the second half but were unable to connect on any of them, with the Lady Bisons attack ultimately falling short.

The Bisons return to the pitch Monday for their final non-conference match of the season as the Lady Bisons host Tennessee Tech at 7 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
