North Florida men take tie in exhibition match
August 22, 2009
SAVANNAH, Ga.-University of North Florida traveled to Savannah, Ga. for an exhibition match with the Savannah College of Art & Design on Thursday and battled to a 0-0 tie.

Both teams played evenly with UNF taking the edge in shots in the first half and the host SCAD besting the Ospreys in the second half.

“I thought it was a good match for us,” head coach Ray Bunch remarked after the match.  “We have only been together for a couple of days compared to [Savannah College of Art & Design] who has been together significantly longer so I thought we played extremely well.

“We played quite a few players,” Bunch continued.  “For some of these guys, it was their first or second match they have ever played so I am happy for the way they came out and really competed.”

Andrew Calise started at goalkeeper for UNF and kept the Bees off of the scoreboard for 90 minutes.  Bunch stated freshmen Greg Crowell and Ethan Deweerd stood out in their first match in a Osprey uniform.
