Saints Drop Non-Conference Finale
Bridgette Alexander and Magalie Kayrouz scored and Maia Perez recorded a clean sheet with 10 saves as three-time defending America East Regular Season Champion and preseason favorite Hartford shutout Siena Women’s Soccer 2-0 in Connecticut. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Dorado made five saves for the Saints which despite the defeat finishes non-conference play with a winning record of 4-3.
Alexander and Kayrouz scored just seven and a half minutes apart bridging the first and second halves for Hartford (2-4-1) which defeated Siena for the third consecutive season. Meanwhile Perez made seven of her 10 stops in the second half as the Saints were kept off the scoreboard for just the second time in seven matches to open the season.
Siena held a 15-13 edge in shots and a 5-2 margin in corners. Senior captain Michele Tremblay and junior Gabby Albano paced the Saints with five shots apiece, and combined to account for seven of Siena’s attempts on target.
The Saints kick off their 26th season of MAAC competition Saturday when they welcome Fairfield to Loudonville for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
