Complete NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's Preseason Rankings
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its 2013 NCAA Division I preseason poll Tuesday, and SIUE is among the teams receiving votes.
The Cougars are one of 40 teams from across the country on the list, tying with Michigan for 35th overall.
SIUE is coming off a 2012 season in which it finished 13-7-0 and made an appearance in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament final.
Head Coach Kevin Kalish's squad returns several key starters in 2013, including senior goalkeeper John Berner, junior midfielder Matt Polster, and junior forward Christian Volesky.
Berner is the reigning MVC Goalkeeper of the Year, while Polster and Volesky were NSCAA First Team All-Region and First Team All-MVC performers a season ago.
Fans can get their first look at the 2013 Cougars Friday, when they welcome Milwaukee for an exhibition game at Korte Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The regular season kicks off Aug. 30 when SIUE heads west to face Santa Clara at 9 p.m. CT.
