Greeneville, TN – No. 16 Columbus State picked up their first win of the season Sunday afternoon as they defeated Tusculum 2-1 in Greeneville, TN as part of the Tusculum Kickoff Tournament.  The win moves the Lady Cougars to 1-0-1 on the year while TC falls to 1-1-0.

After being held scoreless for 110 minutes Friday night, CSU wasted no time getting on the board as Stephanie Lowery, a 2010 All-American, scored her first goal of the season just 2:23 into the match to put Columbus State in front 1-0.

Tusculum didn't back down as they nearly got the equalizer in the 14th minute but Jana Linke's shot hit off the crossbar.  The Pioneers finally did crack through late in the half as Michelle Meade served up a corner kick into the box where Colleen Moloney headed home the game-tying goal at the 42:15 mark in the first half.

From that point forward, CSU was in complete control of the game as they outshot the hosts 14-2 in the second half.  Lowery, the school's single-season record holder for goals scored, buried home her second goal of the match.  The play started with an Ashton Ziadie shot being saved with the rebound going to Lowery who was denied on her first shot attempt before knocking in the game-winner in the 53rd minute.

Columbus State nearly tacked on another goal in the 81st minute when Kansas Bayly headed an Ashley Miller corner kick which was saved and the carom went to Kiana Nicholson whose shot was blocked by a TC defender.

Mary Mancin (1-0-1) picked up the win playing the entire game in net for CSU picking up three saves.  Lowery led the offensive attack taking six shots including five which were on target.
