The Tulsa women’s soccer team registered a 3-1 win over Lamar on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 4-1 on the season, while the Cardinals fell to 1-5 on the season.
“I was proud of the team today because good teams find a way to win,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “I don’t think we played our best today, but Sunday games are always tough. I was also proud of the fact that we had three different players score once again, and of Jazmiera Ditter who played in goal, got her first start and first win.”
Alijah Oliver put Tulsa on the board at the 36:55 mark as she shot from eight yards out after dribbling around two defenders for the goal. With 18 seconds left before halftime, Oliver flicked the ball to Kayla Fernandez who recorded her first collegiate goal from 19 yards out up the middle to give the Hurricane a 2-0 lead at the break.
Regan Whitlow added a score for TU in the 66thminute off a free kick from 20 yards out.
Lucy Ashworth prevented the shutout with her goal at the 84:34 mark as she shot up the middle from 12 yards out off a cross from Wasila Diwura.

Lamar had a 16-13 lead in shots, including a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal, while both teams had four corner kicks.
