Deltoro has had a huge impact on Johnson’s quick-fire 8-0-0 start to the season, with 11 goals and six assists over that span. But his recent deluge last week was clearly the most impressive of his productive season thus far. He guided 10-2 and 8-0 blowout wins to kick off league play last week by scoring two hat tricks and tallying four assists. The senior team captain will attempt to lead Johnson on a deep postseason run this season.

As for Byrd, last week represented a historic stretch for the prolific senior forward from the northeast corner of Texas. Byrd set two school records after scoring a whopping five goals in a massive 12-0 blowout victory over District 29-4A foe Liberty-Eylau. That total pushed her over the single-season school record to give her 27 goals for the year. The outburst also gave her 70 goals for her career, which snapped the school’s all-time record. Incredibly, Byrd has scored 21 goals in Texas High’s last nine games.

Other boys finalists include Will Keegan (Pensacola Catholic High School, Pensacola, Fla.) and Ian Roberts (First Colonial High School, Virginia Beach, Va.). Other girls finalists include Hannah Sink (Glenn High School, Kernersville, N.C.) and Daria Zarzeka (Randolph High School, Huntsville, Ala.).

The NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Player of the Week honor is designed to highlight a selection of the nation's rising stars populating the high school ranks. Coaches are free to nominate a boys or girls player each week through our submission form that can be found here. Be sure to include the school and any relevant stats from the previous week. The selection process will take into account a slew of factors from contribution to team results to individual accolades. Honorees are announced each Wednesday.

The next submission deadline will be noon (CT) on March 31 before the Player of the Week announcement on April 2.
