FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: California (fall), Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (private), West Virginia, Wisconsin. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Nicolas Brown had a goal and one assist as McDonogh rallied for a 2-1 win over league rival Loyola. Brown assisted the winner, which was scored by Tunde Akinlostu, a member of the TopDrawerSoccer All-America Watch List.

Delbarton School Morristown, NJ 7-0-0
Delbarton routed Chaminade (N.Y.) 6-0 to complete a two-match sweep at the Delbarton Soccer Invitational. Tyler Bell scored three goals as Delbarton won the mixer tournament. Chaminade earlier last week had beat former FAB 50 No. 2 St. Anthony's (N.Y.). Chaminade's 5-4-1 record also includes losses to FAB 50 No. 4 St. Benedict's Prep 4-0, No. 46 Seton Hall Prep 2-0 and state-ranked Loyola (Md.) 2-0. It all added up to a major move in the rankings this week for Delbarton.

Haverford School Haverford, PA 6-1-0
Seven players scored as Haverford School defeated Hun School (N.J.) 7-0 to cap a two-win week. Haverford has six shutouts in seven matches.

St. Benedict's Prep Newark, NJ 8-1-0
St. Benedict's defeated Hill School (Pa.) 3-0 and Pennington School 4-1 last week. Jean Derival scored twice in the win over Pennington.

Canton Canton, MI 11-0-1
Canton is simply dominating the KLAA, a perennial powerhouse league in Michigan. The league has 24 teams and Canton's list of victims include a 4-0 win over Walled Lake Northern, the No. 2 team in the KLAA and a state top five-ranked squad by the coaches.

Mohamed Keita scored the lone goal as MLK edged Beacon 1-0 despite having a lopsided advantage in shots and scoring chances.

Senior Austin Halsey scored three goals during Washburn Rural's two wins last week, giving him 11 on the season. He enters this week's play six goals away from breaking the school record.

Air Academy, led by the scoring of Austin Dewing, continues to dominate the local scene. Dewing had four goals and four assists in a pair of matches last week. The Kadets have scored 29 goals in its last four matches.

Ian Chacon came up with a pair of saves in the shootout as Morton defeated Lyons to capture the Pepsie Showdown title on Sunday.

Fayetteville Academy continues to cruise through a not-too-challenging part of the schedule, gearing up for a late-season showdown with Greensboro Day School.

David Alejos and Ian Burkhart scored in each match last week as Lancaster Mennonite stayed perfect with wins over Lancaster Catholic and Annville-Cleona. Lancaster Mennonite is the state's top-ranked small school, but it gets the nod over large-school No. 1 Upper St. Clair since it beat Fleetwood, the team that tied Upper St. Clair tied.

Tristan Lyle, Grant Roberts and Connor DeWine scored the goals as Beavercreek defeated St. Charles Prep 3-1 last week.

Upper St. Clair Pittsburgh, PA 11-0-1
Upper St. Clair is riding a 10-match win streak since a weekend-opening tie with Fleetwood. Upper St. Clair has a chance to basically clinch a league title this week as it faces one-loss Peters Township. USC won the earlier match 1-0, and a second win could give the squad a two-match cushion in the standings with only a match to play.

Peter Lopes scored the lone goal about a minute into the second overtime as Commack edged FAB 50-ranked Brentwood 1-0 last week.

Farmington backed its state No. 1 ranking with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Hall last week in a battle of undefeated teams. Evan Hughes, Marcos Rodriguez and Jared Edelson scored for Farmington.

Chesterton pinned a 4-1 defeat on longtime state small-school power Canterbury Prep last week, reinforcing its lofty ranking. In comparison, Canterbury's only other loss is a 2-1 setback to Carmel, which beat former state No. 1 Evansville Memorial last week.
23 Christian Brothers Sacramento, CA 7-1-1
Kristian Heptner scored twice as Christian Brothers upended Granite Bay 3-2 in a meeting between two of California's top fall-playing programs.

Granite Bay Granite Bay, CA 8-1-0
Granite Bay's bid for a FAB 50 national crown was dealt a blow following a loss to Christian Brothers last week. That result now means the three California teams in the Top 25 have taken turns beating each other.

River Hill Clarksville, MD 8-0-0
River Hill, one of Maryland's storied programs, is back in the national picture following an 8-0 start. Between the opening of the school in 1996 and through 2007, the program produced eight state titles, one runner-up and one state semifinal finish. However, it's been quite ever since 2008. Now, the Hawks are considered frontrunners for a Class 3A state title.
