FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The boys fall high school season includes the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (fall only), West Virginia, Wisconsin.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Season Complete. New Jersey Prep A state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 550 students, grades K-12.
NOTES: Jamar Ricketts scored twice and Rhys Armstrong, Yaro and Thiago Quintanhila added goals as St. Benedict's capped its third straight undefeated season with a 5-1 Prep A state final victory over Pennington School. The Gray Bees are riding a 57-match undefeated streak. This year's squad tied St. Ignatius (Ohio) on the road and posted the only defeats on the schedules of Top 25-ranked Salesianum (Del.) and Walt Whitman (Md.). Overall, St. Benedict's defeated six SIMA FAB 50 teams. This year's St. Benedict's squad was led by defender Cao Chaves as the Gray Bees outscored their opponents 89-6. Tony Yeboah, a junior, led the team in scoring with 14 goals. Zemi Rodriguez, also a junior, added 13 goals. Coach Jimmie Wandling has a 10-year coaching record of 186-8-4.
2 (2) St. Ignatius Cleveland, OH 18-0-2
Notre Dame commit Matthew McLaughlin and Everett Shorey teamed up to pace St. Ignatius' 5-0 win over Milford. The win marked St. Ignatius' sixth straight regional title and sets up a major state semifinal clash with Medina on Wednesday.
3 (3) Medina Medina, OH 20-0-1
Parker Csiszar and brother Gavin Csiszar scored less than 30 seconds apart in the closing minutes as Medina rallied for a 3-2 win over Hoover. The result sets up a state semifinal clash with St. Ignatius on Wednesday.
4 (4) Delbarton School Morristown, NJ 19-0-1
Six players scored goals as Delbarton rolled to a 7-0 victory over St. Joseph-Montvale in the opening round of postseason play last week. Senor Leo Cooley scored twice for the Green Wave. Delbarton next faces Pingry School.
5 (5) Lee's Summit Lee's Summit, MO 17-0-0
Lee's Summit closed out the regular season with wins over Park Hill South and Liberty North -- and both matches were played in light snow.
6 (6) Peoria Notre Dame Peoria, IL 22-1-0
Noah Madrigal scored three goals and Myles Sophanavong netted the game-winner as Peoria Notre Dame rallied for a 4-2 victory over Dunlap for the program's 21st sectional title. The Irish fell behind 2-0 for Madrigal scored twice to tie it. PND next faces SIMA FAB 50-ranked Benet Academy, and the winner advances to the state semifinals.
7 (7) Brentwood Brentwood, NY 17-0-0
Brandon Yanez scored the lone goal as Brentwood edged West Islip 1-0 in the Suffolk Class AA quarterfinals. The win sends Brentwood in a Monday semifinal contest.
8 (8) Rockwood Summit Fenton, MO 23-0-1
Christian Kraus scored seven goals last week -- 5-0 during a 7-0 win over Lafayette -- as Summit remained undefeated with a pair of wins.

Zionsville Zionsville, IN 21-0-0*
Season Complete. Indiana Class 3A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,925 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Chris Freeman and Alex Carr scored only 34 seconds apart late in the second half and Ben Weidner added an insurance goal in the closing minutes as Zionsville rallied for a 3-1 state final victory over Lake Central. Zionsville becomes only the fourth team in Indiana boys soccer playoff-era history to post a perfect record. Weidner assisted on Carr's game-winner. The Eagles, last year's state runner-up, started the season ranked No. 12 in the Mid-East regional rankings.

Forest Hills Northern Grand Rapids, MI 23-0-1*
Season Complete. Michigan Division 2 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,125 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Aidan O'Connor, last year's Gatorade State Player of the Year for Michigan, and Ludwig Tilly scored the goals to carry Forest Hills Northern to a 2-0 state final victory over Melvindale. The Huskies, which started the season ranked No. 29 in the SIMA FAB 50, tied their first match of the season and then rolled off 23 straight wins to finish among the nation's elite. The title was a bit of revenge for Forest Hills Northern, which lost in last year's final to end the season at 23-1-1.

School Facts: Public, 2,050 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Oscar Smythe scored both goals as Edina capped a perfect season with a 2-1 win over East Ridge in the state final. The win marked Edina's first state title since rolling off three in a row from 1999-2001.

Liberty commit Jonathan Munoz is nearing 30 goals on the season, and he scored in Olathe West's 3-1 win over Olathe Northwest in the regional final last week.

Salesianum Wilmington, DE 14-1-0
Ethan Hinds scored twice and New Hampshire commit Drew Blackwell had two assists as Salesianum closed out regular season play with a 3-1 win over Archmere Academy.

Albuquerque was idle last week. The Bulldogs start postseason play this week in the New Mexico state quarterfinals.

Juan Ponce assisted on the first goal and scored the second as Amityville defeated Islip 2-0 in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinal match. Amityville was scheduled to face Hauppauge on Monday in the semifinals.

Eli Schoffstall scored twice right before halftime as Fremd defeated Warren 4-1 in the sectional championship. The win sends Fremd into a Super-Sectional match against SIMA FAB 50-ranked St. Patrick.

Jackson Masters had a goal and one assist as Commack defeated Whitman 3-0 in a Suffolk AA quarterfinal contest. Commack was scheduled to face Floyd in a semifinal match on Monday.

Jesuit opened postseason play with a 2-0 victory over Lake Oswego.

Kevin Salensky scored in both of Clifton's playoff wins last week as the Mustangs charged into this week's North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 semifinals. Clifton defeated Passaic Tech (3-0) and Mount Olive (3-1) last week.

Junior Lucas Ross scored twice as Seton Hall Prep defeated Oratory 4-0 last week. The win sends the Pirates into this week's North Jersey, Non-Public A semifinals against Don Bosco Prep.

Aaron Gunther scored the last three goals as defending state champion Walt Whitman routed Bladensburg 5-0 in the Class 4A state quarterfinals. Whitman next faces county rival Wootton in the state semifinals.

Franklin Regional Murrysville, PA 19-0-1
Garrett Beaver scored the match-winning goal late in regulation as Franklin Regional claimed a second straight WPIAL Class 3A title. The win sends Franklin Regional into the state playoffs as the top seed from District 7, which is the Pittsburgh-area schools.

Season Complete. Michigan Division 1 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,700 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Sophomore Ryan Gruca scored twice in overtime as Troy Athens netted three goals in a four-minute span to take a 4-1 state title victory over Traverse City West. The win marked the first state title for Troy Athens since 1997 and delivered on a promise of a great season. The Redhawks went 21-1 last year and was upset in the playoffs. This year's team started the season No. 15 in the SIMA FAB 50 in July and will end it ranked among the nation's elite.

North Penn Lansdale, PA 21-1-0
Hunter Stites scored the lone goal as North Penn defeated Boyertown 1-0 to win the District 1-AAAA title. The win sends North Penn into this week's state tournament as the No. 1 seed from a loaded district that sends five teams to the 16-team state tournament.
