FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The winter season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Season Complete. Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,100 students, grades K-12.
NOTES: Montverde Academy stretched its undefeated streak to 117 matches with a 1-0 win over Coppell (Texas) in the final of the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament, which featured nationally ranked programs from four states. Denver commit Andre Shinyashiki scored the match-winning goal and was named tournament MVP after scoring five goals in three matches. Montverde's other signings include DMF Matius Silva (Saint Louis), F Lucas Fagotti (St. John's), D Jabari Newton (Memphis), D Zack Waitman (Central Florida), GK Federico Barrios (Dayton), GK Nolan Lennon (Clemson) and MF Victor Spaggiari (Wingate).
2 (2) Rivera Brownsville, TX 19-0-0
Rivera handled Harlingen South 5-2 and Los Fresno 7-1 last week. The Raiders are averaging more than five goals per match this season.
3 (3) McKinney Boyd McKinney, TX 11-1-5
Boyd rolled up eight goals against Plano and Plano East last week, and in those matches not a single player scored more than once.
4 (4) Coppell Coppell, TX 15-2-1
Coppell rolled to one of the most lopsided boys wins this winter season, beating district foe Richland 15-0. Coppell won the earlier meeting between the team's 2-0.
5 (5) Cathedral Los Angeles, CA 22-1-6
Jose Cano scored his fifth playoff goal and Anthony Espana added an insurance goal as Cathedral defeated Chaffey 2-0 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 final. The Phantoms are the top seed in this week's Southern California Region Division III tournament.

Gulliver Prep Miami, FL 18-1-1
Season Complete. Florida Class 2A state champion.
School Facts: Private, 650 students, in Prep grades 9-12.
NOTES: Augusto Acosta, Army commit Andy Alvarez and North Carolina commit Alexander Moztarzadeh scored the goals as Gulliver Prep won a second straight state title with a 3-1 decision over Bolles School. Gulliver netted 26 goals in five regional and state playoff wins, and the 3-1 final was the team's closest playoff match. Gulliver placed fifth at the Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament, falling to Los Angeles Cathedral (Calif.) in penalty kicks the first day before posting a pair of one-sided consolation wins.

El Camino Real Woodland Hills, CA 26-0-5
Yarden Amira scored both goals as El Camino Real defeated Birmingham 2-1 in the Los Angeles Division I final. The win sends the Conquistadors to the Southern California Regional Division I tournament as the No. 1 seed.

Buchanan was idle last week after winning the CIF Central Section Division I title a week earlier. Buchanan is the No. 2 seed in the Southern California Regional Division I tournament.

Roman Manning scored the first goal and Oscar Flores added a penalty kick score as Servite defeated El Toro 2-0 in the CIF Southern Section Division I final. Servite received the No. 1 seed in this week's Southern California Regional Division II tournament.

El Toro's first defeat of the season came at the hands of Servite, 2-0, in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 final. Despite the loss, El Toro advances to this week's CIF Southern California Regional Division I tournament as the No. 3 seed.

Choctawhatchee Fort Walton Beach, FL 30-0-1
Season Complete. Florida Class 3A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,800 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Shane Nicholson's overtime blast lifted senior-heavy Choctawhatchee to a 1-0 win over Merritt Island in a state final rematch. The win marked the program's first state title after eight previous trips to the state tournament. In the semifinals, Choctawhatchee defeated SIMA FAB 50-ranked Sunlake. The goal was Nicholson's 50th of the season.

School Facts: Private, all-boys, 850 students in grades 9-12.
NOTES: Barrick Roberts scored two goals as St. Paul's capped an undefeated season with a 3-0 win over Jesuit in the final. Eric Guin, who scored twice in last year's state final win, scored the other goal as the Wolves rolled through the playoffs without allowing a goal.

School Facts: Public, 4,500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Stefano Delgado converted the winning penalty kick as Cypress Bay edged West Orange 2-1 for the program's fourth state title in the past five seasons. Heavy favored Cypress Bay trailed 1-0 until the 55th minute when David Reyes scored on an assist from Franco Massacssi.

Tristan Cavazos scored both goals in Clark's 2-0 win over former SIMA FAB 50-ranked San Antonio Jay. Matthew Jacobs later netted the only goal in the team's 1-0 win over San Antonio O'Connor.

Season Complete. Arizona Division 1 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 3,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Chandler made it a "football" sweep for this Arizona school, claiming its first Division I crown with a 3-2 win over SIMA FAB 50-ranked Sandra Day O'Connor. Chandler also claimed the state's large-school football state title in the fall. Frank Stein, Carter Rumsey and Daniel Corona scored the goals as Chandler built a 3-1 lead en route to the victory.

Omar Estrada scored a pair of late goals to carry Porter to a 5-0 win over Pace, putting this team in complete command of the district race.

School Facts: Public, 1,400 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Junior Zack Bailey scored both goals as Madison Central won a second straight state title with a 2-0 win over Ocean Springs. Madison Central outshot Ocean Springs 28-3 in the final. Madison Central's only loss this season was a 2-1 setback to St. Paul's (La.).

Grand Prairie's perfect season ended with a 3-2 district loss to rival South Grand Prairie last week. The Gophers bounced back with a pair of wins over Cedar Hill and Midlothian.
23 South Grand Prairie Grand Prairie, TX 20-2-1
South Grand Prairie made a significant jump in this week's rankings after a 3-2 win over Grand Prairie. The result helped the Warriors, which lost the first meeting against Grand Prairie forge a tie atop the district standings with their city rival.

San Ramon Valley Danville, CA 22-2-4
Season Complete. CIF North Coast Section champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,200 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Sophomore J.T. Carlson delivered one save in the shootout and that was enough as San Ramon Valley dethroned De La Salle in the section final after a 1-1 match. Nathan Miller gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead early, but De La Salle evened the score with four minutes left in regulation. De La Salle had not lost a playoff match since 2008 and was the six-time defending section champion. The win made San Ramon Valley, which had three runner-up finishes in the past six years, the section champ for the first time since 2002.

School Facts: Public, 3,400 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Chaffey's season ended with a 2-0 section final loss to Los Angeles Cathedral. Despite a 22-2-5 record, Chaffey did not receive a bid to the Southern California Regional tournament.
