The winter high school season includes the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

School Facts: Private, 750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Montverde Academy capped a seventh straight undefeated season with a 4-1 victory over Paramount (Calif.) in the MAST final. The program is now riding a 157-match undefeated streak, dating to November 2010. This year's team was led by forward Kizza Edward, who was named MAST MVP after scoring at least one goal in each of the team's three MAST victories. The Eagles defeated Watsonville (Calif.) and St. Paul's (La.) to reach the final. The team was ahead 3-0 within 15 minutes of every MAST match. Joao Lucas Santos and Josh Jackson made the all-tournament team. Virginia-bound keeper Connor Jones was named Most Outstanding Keeper.

Godinez Santa Ana, CA 14-0-0
Six players scored goals as Godinez posted wins over Costa Mesa (3-1) and Saddleback (3-0) last week.

Southlake Carroll Southlake, TX 7-0-0
The Dragon closed out pre-district play outscoring its opponents 24-1 in seven matches. Nat Kajiwara scored four goals and Calvin Herd had three goals in the Dragons' three wins last week.

South Torrance's perfect run was spoiled in a 1-1 tie with rival West Torrance, but despite the result the Spartans remain undefeated this season.
5 (5) Merritt Island Merritt Island, FL 14-0-0
The Mustangs will be a strong favorite to win the District 12-3A tournament, which started Monday night. Among Merritt Island's perfect start is a 4-0 win over Titusville, the team seeded No. 2 to Merritt Island in the district.

Sam Houston, bolstered by a tie with Boyd and a Duncanville Kickoff Classic title, vaults into the Top 10 this week.

Boyd defeated Coppell 2-0 last week in a rain-soaked contest between a pair of DFW powers.

Alisal is riding a 10-match undefeated streak into a week that ends with a clash with former Top 25-ranked Watsonville. Alisal won the first meeting between the teams, but the rematch could have even more league importance as Alisal is at the top of the table with Watsonville -- probably for the first time in school history -- in last place.

Redlands East Valley Redlands, CA 12-0-1
Sergio Hipolito scored both goals in Redland East Valley's 2-0 victory over Yucaipa last week. The Wildcats are now undefeated in 25 straight matches and have not lost a game in more than a year (the last loss coming Jan. 22, 2016).

Campo Verde Gilbert, AZ 21-0-0
Campo Verde makes a major jump this week, thanks in part to Gilbert's win over former state No. 1 Corona del Sol last week. Campo Verde defeated Gilbert, 4-2 in overtime, in December in the Dobson Tournament semifinals.

Santa Barbara, one of the traditionally strong CIF-Southern Section programs, has worked its way into the Top 25 just in time for a showdown with league rival Ventura. Both teams are undefeated in league play.

Despite a tie last week, Santa Margarita surged to the top of the Trinity League standings, ahead of Servite. A match between the teams was postponed due to weather, but they will meet at least twice this season.

Now halfway through the season, Folsom keeps strengthening its national ranking argument by dominating opponents. The Bulldogs have allowed only five goals in 11 matches, and last week beat three opponents by a combined 18-2 margin.

Garden Grove stayed undefeated with a 4-2 victory over Rancho Alamitos last week as four players netted goals for the Argonauts.

Jesus Vargas scored the lone goal as Santiago edged Los Amigos 1-0 last week to remain in second place in the Garden Grove league behind Garden Grove.

Tragedy struck the Pleasant Valley community over the weekend as the school's varsity girls soccer coach died in an automobile crash. The team's match early this week has been postponed.
