Inflatable Igoal enables soccer on the go
March 23, 2009
For anyone who has had to struggle with relocating goals before a practice, or had to train or play without the benefit of an actual goal, UK-based company REDYSET has a product for you.
The Igoal is a completely portable, inflatable goal now being sold in the U.S. by the company.
“This is ideal when it comes to safety and also for kids and adults who want to play at any time,” Bos said. “There’s no hassle of carrying aluminum posts, there’s not worry of injuries from diving into posts or worse. There have been some tragic accidents with kids in the past few years, but these goals are inflatable.”
Bos said the portability allows “soccer at any place, at any time.
“Playing soccer without a goal is like playing basketball without a hoop. It just doesn’t work,” he added. “There’s plenty of green space in the States, but not as many goals. In UK 70 percent of soccer is still played on nontraditional soccer fields. This goal can add another dimension. You can set it up at the beach, indoors, in parks, for goalie training sessions…anywhere.”
The product has been for sale in America since last summer, and Bos said response has been healthy thus far. It has been for sale in Europe for 2 ½ years.
“Our choice was to go to the grassroots first rather than big retailers, and it’s working out very well,” he said. “Especially in coaching sectors it has been popular.”
Bos said the procedure for inflating and deflating the goal is simple, noting that it is carried in something like a sports bag.
“I travel to shows all around and I can just take it on the airplane as a carry-on bag,” he said.
