Top-Tier Athletes named High School POTW
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (April 10, 2013) - Evan Stamp, a senior goalkeeper from Andover Central High School (Andover, Kan.) and Graham Jermstad, a senior midfielder from Dutch Fork High School (Irmo, S.C.) have been selected as the NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Players of the Week.
Stamp led her team to the McPherson Tournament Championship and won the tournament MVP award. The senior goalkeeper played a crucial role in the final two games of the tournament with key saves. Stamp and the Andover Central Jaguars are 3-0 this season.
Stamp enters her senior season with a school-record 21 career shutouts. The senior goalkeeper has committed to play for Missouri State University, under head coach and NSCAA member Rob Brewer in the fall.
Other female finalist included Klasey Medelberg from Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (St. Louis, Mo.)
Jermstand scored five goals and registered an assist in his last two games. The senior midfielder scored two goals in a 2-1 victory over Lexington High School. Jermstand followed up with a hat-trick in a 6-0 victory over North Augusta High School.
Jermstand leads the Silver Foxes with 16 goals this season and his next game will be against Wilson Hall High School on Friday, April 12.
The NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Player of the Week program is designed to highlight the future stars of the game. Anyone can nominate a player, however only players whose coach is a current NSCAA member are eligible for selection. Honorees will be announced on Wednesdays.
The next submission deadline is Monday, April 15, followed by the April 17, announcement.
