MLS Academy alumni roundup: Sept. 10

With the return of the Division I men’s soccer season, it also marks the return to action for scores of MLS Academy alumni around the country.

While the best of the best from pro academies are all electing to turn pro, plenty out there are still playing college soccer.

Below is a team-by-team look at how MLS Academy alumni fared over the past week at the Division I level.

Chicago Fire 

Senior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 90 minutes and made two saves in Marquette’s 2-0 win against Gonzaga on Sept. 5. He also started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in a 1-0 win against Oregon State on Sept. 7.

Sophomore M Louis Bennett II started, played 90 minutes and had two assists in Marquette’s 2-0 win against Gonzaga on Sept. 5. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against Oregon State on Sept. 7.

Junior M Joel Salmeron started and played 89 minutes in UIC’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Sept. 6.

Junior M Manny Chavez started and played 110 minutes in UIC’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Sept. 6.

Junior M Drew Conner started and played 90 minutes in Wisconsin’s 2-1 loss against George Mason on Sept. 5. He also started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in a 4-1 loss against Wisconsin on Sept. 7.

Senior M Brady Wahl started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 2-0 win against Gonzaga on Sept. 5.

Senior F Tyler Engel started and played 71 minutes in a 1-0 win against Old Dominion on Sept. 5. He also started and played 66 minutes in a 1-0 win against VCU on Sept. 7.

Junior F Joey Calistri started and played 84 minutes in Northwestern’s 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 5. He also started and played 83 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 7.

Sophomore MF Marcus Epps started and played 83 minutes in South Florida’s 2-1 win against Akron on Sept. 4. He also started and played 58 minutes in a 2-0 win against Portland on Sept. 7.

Freshman F Jeffrey Farina came off the bench, played 36 minutes and had an assist in Notre Dame’s 4-1 win against Dartmouth on Sept. 6. He also came off the bench and played 35 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Kentucky on Sept. 8.

Chivas USA

Junior D Brendan Hines-Ike started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in Creighton’s 1-0 win over Western Illinois on Sept. 5. He also started and played 75 minutes in a 3-0 win against Cincinnati on Sept. 7.

Sophomore GK Jake McGuire started, played 105 minutes and made one save in Tulsa’s 1-0 win against Virginia on Sept. 5. He also started, played 92 minutes and made four saves in a 2-1 loss against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 7.

Colorado Rapids

Sophomore MF Ricardo Perez came off the bench and played 21 minutes in Creighton’s 1-0 win over Western Illinois on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 68 minutes in a 3-0 win against Cincinnati on Sept. 7.

Sophomore GK Andrew Epstein started, played 90 minutes and made four saves in Stanford’s 2-0 win against San Jose State on Sept. 6. He also started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in a 4-1 win against UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 9.

Senior F James Rogers started, played 60 minutes and had an assist in New Mexico’s 2-1 win against UC Riverside on Sept. 5. He also started, played 67 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-1 loss against UCLA on Sept. 7.

Columbus Crew

Junior D Andrew Souders started and played 110 minutes in Akron’s 2-1 loss against South Florida on Sept. 4. He also started and played 110 minutes in Akron’s 1-1 draw against Florida Gulf Coast on Sept. 6.

Sophomore D Alex Crognale came off the bench and played 13 minutes in Maryland’s 0-0 draw against UMBC on Sept. 5. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Navy on Sept. 8.

Freshman F Ahinga Selemani started and played 78 minutes in Michigan’s 3-0 loss at Columbia on Sept. 6.

Junior M Connor Klekota came off the bench and played 45 minutes in Notre Dame’s 4-1 win against Dartmouth on Sept. 6. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Kentucky on Sept. 8.

D.C. United

Senior D Nat Eggleston started and played 54 minutes in Duke’s 3-1 loss against SMU on Sept. 5. He also started and played 64 minutes in a 3-1 win against Temple on Sept. 9.

Sophomore D Michael Sauers came off the bench and played 44 minutes in Maryland’s 0-0 draw against UMBC on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 28 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Navy on Sept. 8.

Senior M Mikias Eticha started and played 95 minutes in Maryland’s 0-0 draw against UMBC on Sept. 5. He also started and played 37 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Navy on Sept. 8.

Sophomore D Patrick Foss came off the bench and 37 minutes in Virginia’s 1-0 loss against Tulsa on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 58 minutes in a 2-1 win against UAB on Sept. 7.

Sophomore D Suliaman Dainkeh started and played 110 minutes in Maryland’s 0-0 draw against UMBC on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 11 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Navy on Sept. 8.

Senior M Tyler Rudy started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 2-0 win against Harvard on Sept. 5. He also started and played 61 minutes in a 4-1 win against Wisconsin on Sept. 7.

Sophomore MF Ian Harkes started and played 93 minutes in Wake Forest’s 2-1 win against Connecticut on Sept. 5. He also started, played 83 minutes and had an assist in a 4-1 win against Cleveland State on Sept. 7.

Sophomore D Lars Eckenrode started and played 90 minutes in Michigan’s 3-0 loss at Columbia on Sept. 6.

FC Dallas

Junior D Mark Ashby started and played 90 minutes in Harvard’s 2-0 loss against Georgetown on Sept. 5. He also started and played 26 minutes in a 2-1 loss against George Washington on Sept. 7.

Freshman D Kristoffer Reaves started and played 93 minutes in Wake Forest’s 2-1 win against Connecticut on Sept. 5. He also started and played 68 minutes in a 4-1 win against Cleveland State on Sept. 7.

Senior D Jack Coleman came off the bench and played 51 minutes in Duke’s 3-1 loss against SMU on Sept. 5. He also started, played 83 minutes and scored a goal in a 3-1 win against Temple on Sept. 9.

Sophomore F Bobby Edet started and played 86 minutes in Furman’s 2-1 win against North Florida on Sept. 5. He also started, played 48 minutes and scored a goal in a 5-0 win against Georgia State on Sept. 7.

Sophomore M Marco Ortiz started and played 85 minutes in Furman’s 2-1 win against North Florida on Sept. 5. He also started, played 60 minutes, scored a goal and had an assist in a 5-0 win against Georgia State on Sept. 7.

Senior D Boyd Okwuonu started and played 90 minutes in North Carolina’s 1-0 win against Old Dominion on Sept. 5. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against VCU on Sept. 7.

Junior D Mikey Ambrose started and played 110 minutes in Maryland’s 0-0 draw against UMBC on Sept. 5. He also started and played 79 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Navy on Sept. 8.

Senior GK Patrick Wall started, played 90 minutes and made two saves in Notre Dame’s 4-1 win against Dartmouth on Sept. 6. He also started, played 90 minutes and made two saves in a 1-0 loss against Kentucky on Sept. 8.

Senior D Uchenna Uzo started and played 110 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 2-1 win against Charlotte on Sept. 5.

Freshman M Elochukwu Ozumba came off the bench, played 49 minutes and had an assist in Northwestern’s 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 48 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 7.

Freshman M Zach Jackson came off the bench and played 18 minutes in Tulsa’s 1-0 win against Virginia on Sept. 5. He also started and played 78 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 7.

Junior D Bradley Bourgeois started and played 105 minutes in Tulsa’s 1-0 win against Virginia on Sept. 5. He also started and played 91 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 7.

LA Galaxy

Junior M Grady Howe started and played 71 minutes in UCLA’s 2-1 loss against American on Sept. 5. He also started and played 60 minutes in a 2-1 win against New Mexico on Sept. 7.

Sophomore M Willie Raygoza started and played 35 minutes in UCLA’s 2-1 loss against American on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 10 minutes in a 2-1 win against New Mexico on Sept. 7.

Freshman D Manny Padilla started and played 90 minutes in San Francisco’s 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 5.

Sophomore GK Josh McNeely started, played 110 minutes and made one save in UC Santa Barbara’s 1-1 draw against Northwestern on Sept. 5. He also started, played 90 minutes and made one save in a 4-1 loss against Stanford on Sept. 9.

Freshman GK Jason Beaulieu came off the bench and played five minutes in New Mexico’s 2-1 win against UC Riverside on Sept. 5. He also started and played 90 minutes in New Mexico’s 2-01 loss against UCLA on Sept. 7.

New England Revolution

Sophomore MF Dominik Machado started and played 79 minutes in Providence’s 2-0 win against Holy Cross on Sept. 5. He also started, played 71 minutes and scored a goal in a 3-1 loss against Quinnipiac on Sept. 7.

Senior MF Fabio Machado started and played 73 minutes in Providence’s 2-0 win against Holy Cross on Sept. 5. He also started and played 78 minutes in a 3-1 loss against Quinnipiac on Sept. 7.

New York Red Bulls

Freshman M Arun Basuljevic came off the bench, played 20 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 2-0 win against Harvard on Sept. 5. He also came off the bench and played 45 minutes in a 4-1 win against Wisconsin on Sept. 7.

Junior D Scott Thomsen started and played 105 minutes in Virginia’s 1-0 loss against Tulsa on Sept. 5. He also started and played 70 minutes in a 2-1 win against UAB on Sept. 7.
