MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Nov. 20

Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract. 

For now, of course, the focus is on their college teams, as the season continues to move along and the chase for the College Cup inches along.

Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week, as college teams lifted conference tourney trophies.

Chicago Fire

Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 98 minutes and made eight saves in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and made one save in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.

Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started, played 92 minutes and had an assist in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 67 minutes and had an assist in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.

Junior MF Brady Wahl started and played 98 minutes in Marquette ’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.

Senior F Harrison Shipp started, played 110 minutes and scored a goal in Notre Dame’s 3-3 draw against Virginia on Nov. 15.

Senior MF Bryan Ciesiulka started and played 98 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.

Sophomore F Joey Calistri started and played 83 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 73 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.

Senior MF Chris Ritter started and played 90 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.

Sophomore MF Drew Conner started and played 90 minutes in Wisconsin’s 2-1 loss against Northwestern on Nov. 13.

Senior D Scott Lakin started and played 90 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Nov. 15.

Chivas USA

Freshman GK Jake McGuire started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in Tulsa’s 3-1 win over South Carolina on Nov. 13, started, played 90 minutes and made seven saves in a 3-0 win over New Mexico on Nov. 15, and also started, played 90 minutes and made four saves in a 1-0 loss against Charlotte on Nov. 17.

Colorado Rapids

Senior F Zach Bolden started, played 51 minutes, had a three goals and an assist in Denver’s 5-0 win over IUPUI on Nov. 15.

Senior D Patrick Slogic started and played 90 minutes in Cornell’s 3-0 win over Columbia on Nov. 16.

Junior F James Rogers started and played 72 minutes in New Mexico’s 3-0 loss against Tulsa on Nov. 15.

Columbus Crew

Senior D Ross Friedman started and played 90 minutes in Harvard’s 2-0 loss against Penn on Nov. 16.

Freshman D Rylee Woods started and played 96 minutes in Michigan’s 2-1 loss against Indiana on Nov. 13.

Freshman D Alex Bumpus started and played 93 minutes in Kentucky’s 1-0 win over Old Dominion on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Charlotte on Nov. 15.

Sophomore D Andrew Souders came off the bench and played 83 minutes in Akron’s 3-0 win over West Virginia on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Nov. 17.

Senior MF Eric Stevenson started, played 65 minutes and score two goals in Akron’s 3-0 win over West Virginia on Nov. 15. He also started, played 57 minutes and had an assist in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Nov. 17.

D.C. United

Freshman MF Michael Sauers came off the bench, played 38 minutes and scored a goal in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also came off the bench and played 44 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Freshman D Patrick Foss started and played 81 minutes in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 77 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.

Freshman D Suliaman Dainkeh started and played 100 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Junior MF Tyler Rudy started and played 110 minutes in Georgetown’s 0-0 draw against Providence on Nov. 15.

Sophomore MF Marcus Salandy-Defour started, played 104 minutes and had a goal and an assist in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.

Junior MF Mikias Eticha started and played 74 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 80 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

FC Dallas

Freshman D Nicholas Rochowski started and played 51 minutes in New Mexico’s 3-0 loss against Tulsa on Nov. 15.

Sophomore D Michael Ambrose started and played 100 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Sophomore D Mark Ashby started and played 90 minutes in Harvard’s 2-0 loss against Penn on Nov. 16.

Freshman MF Fernando Laverde started and played 90 minutes in UCF’s 2-0 loss over Connecticut on Nov. 15.

Houston Dynamo

Sophomore D Bradley Bourgeois started and played 90 minutes in Tulsa’s 3-1 win over South Carolina on Nov. 13, started and played 80 minutes in a 3-0 win over New Mexico on Nov. 15, and also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Charlotte on Nov. 17.

Senior GK Patrick Wall started, played 110 minutes and made three saves in Notre Dame’s 3-3 draw against Virginia on Nov. 15.

Junior D Uchenna Uzo started and played 90 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 3-2 win over Radford on Nov. 15. He also started and played 81 minutes in a 2-0 win over Liberty on Nov. 17.

Freshman D Alex Ochoa started and played 59 minutes in West Virginia’s 3-0 loss against Akron on Nov. 15.

LA Galaxy

Freshman GK Josh McNeely started, played 90 minutes and made two saves in UC Santa Barbara’s 3-2 loss against Cal State Northridge on Nov. 15.

Freshman MF Drew Murphy started and played 90 minutes in UC Santa Barbara’s 3-2 loss against Cal State Northridge on Nov. 15.

Sophomore MF Grady Howe started and played 90 minutes in UCLA’s 3-0 win over San Diego State on Nov. 16.

Freshman D Nathan Smith started and played 90 minutes in UCLA’s 3-0 win over San Diego State on Nov. 16.

Montreal Impact

Freshman D Kai Morton came off the bench, played 19 minutes and had an assist in Coastal Carolina’s 3-2 win over Radford on Nov. 15. He also came off the bench and played 60 minutes in a 2-0 win over Liberty on Nov. 17.

New England Revolution

Freshman MF Dominik Machado started and played 110 minutes in Providence’s 0-0 draw against Georgetown on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-3 loss against Marquette on Nov. 17.

Junior F Fabio Machado started and played 44 minutes in Providence’s 0-0 draw against Georgetown on Nov. 15. He also started and played 52 minutes in a 2-3 loss against Marquette on Nov. 17.

New York Red Bulls

Sophomore F Brandon Allen started and played 97 minutes in Georgetown’s 0-0 draw against Providence on Nov. 15.

Senior MF David Najem started and played 90 minutes in Columbia’s 3-0 loss against Cornell on Nov. 16.

Sophomore D Scott Thomsen came off the bench and played 13 minutes in Virginia’s 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.

Junior MF Dan Metzger started and played 100 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Freshman MF Adam Najem started, played 75 minutes and had three assists in Akron’s 3-0 win over West Virginia on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over Western Michigan on Nov. 17.

Freshman MF Alex Muyl started and played 88 minutes in Georgetown’s 0-0 draw against Providence on Nov. 15.

Philadelphia Union

Freshman GK Zack Steffen started, played 100 minutes and made three saves in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Clemson on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and made one save in a 1-0 win over Virginia on Nov. 17.

Freshman D Andrew Herr started and played 90 minutes in Michigan State’s 2-0 win over Ohio State on Nov. 13. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Northwestern on Nov. 15, and started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Indiana on Nov. 17.

Sophomore D Keegan Rosenberry started and played 110 minutes in Georgetown’s 0-0 draw against Providence on Nov. 15.

Sophomore F Darius Madison started and played 110 minutes in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 68 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.

Portland Timbers

Real Salt Lake

Freshman F Coco Navarro started and played 80 minutes in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Butler on Nov. 15. He also started and played 52 minutes in a 3-2 win over Providence on Nov. 17.

Freshman MF Riggs Lennon came off the bench, played 29 minutes and had an assist in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. 

Senior D Taylor Peay started and played 90 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Oregon State on Nov. 17.

Junior D Phanuel Kavita started and played 90 minutes in Clemson’s 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 15.

Freshman MF Jordan Allen started and played 110 minutes in Virginia’s 3-3 draw against Notre Dame on Nov. 15. He also started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 1-0 loss against Maryland on Nov. 17.

Sophomore GK Matt Bersano started, played 90 minutes and made six saves in Oregon State’s 1-0 loss against Washington on Nov. 17.

San Jose Earthquakes

Sophomore GK Kendall McIntosh started, played 90 minutes and made eight saves in Santa Clara’s 1-0 loss against Loyola Marymount on Nov. 15. He also started, played 90 minutes and made three saves on Nov. 17.

Freshman F Tommy Thompson came off the bench, played 79 minutes and had an assist in Indiana’s 2-1 win over Michigan on Nov. 13. He also came off the bench and played 89 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Penn State on Nov. 15, and also came off the bench and played 58 minutes in a 1-0 win over Michigan State on Nov. 17.

Seattle Sounders FC

Sophomore D Ian Lange came off the bench and played 60 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Oregon State on Nov. 17.

Junior F Darwin Jones came off the bench and played 39 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Oregon State on Nov. 17.

Sophomore MF Aaron Kovar started, played 85 minutes scored a goal and had an assist in Stanford’s 2-1 win over California on Nov. 13.

Freshman F Jordan Morris started, played 81 minutes and had an assist in Stanford’s 2-1 win over California on Nov. 13.

Sporting KC

Senior MF Alex Sweetin started, played 82 minutes and had two assists in Saint Louis’ 2-0 win over Massachusetts on Nov. 14. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over La Salle on Nov. 15, and started and played 45 minutes in a 1-0 loss against George Mason on Nov. 17.

Sophomore F Nate Opperman started and played 26 minutes in Evansville’s 3-2 loss against Bradley on Nov. 13.

Toronto FC

Sophomore MF Jay Chapman started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in Michigan State’s 2-0 win over Ohio State on Nov. 13. He also started and played 45 minutes in a 1-0 win over Northwestern on Nov. 15 and started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Indiana on Nov. 17.

Junior F Allando Matheson came off the bench, played 31 minutes and had an assist in Connecticut’s 5-0 win over SMU on Nov. 15. He also came off the bench and played 15 minutes in a 0-0 draw against South Florida on Nov. 17.

Freshman F Sergio Camargo started, played 63 minutes and scored a goal in Coastal Carolina’s 3-2 win over Radford on Nov. 15. He also started and played 32 minutes in a 2-0 win over Liberty on Nov. 17.
