MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Sep. 25

Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract. 

For now, of course, the focus is on their college teams, as the season continues to move along and the chase for the College Cup inches along. 

Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week:

Chicago Fire

Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 90 minutes and made three saves in Marquette’s 3-0 win over Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 21.

Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started, played 67 minutes and scored a goal in Marquette’s 3-0 win over Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 21.

Junior MF Brady Wahl started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 3-0 win over Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 21.

Senior F Harrison Shipp started, played 110 minutes and scored a goal in Notre Dame’s 1-1 draw against Boston College on Sept. 21.

Junior F Tyler Engel started and played 84 minutes in North Carolina’s 0-0 draw against Virginia Tech on Sept. 20. He also played 79 minutes in a 1-0 loss against William & Mary on Sept. 24.

Sophomore F Joey Calistri started, played 60 minutes and scored a goal in Northwestern’s 3-0 win over St. Mary's (CA) on Sept. 20. He also started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in a 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 22.

Senior MF Chris Ritter started, played 86 minutes and scored a goal in Northwestern’s 3-0 win over St. Mary's (CA) on Sept. 20. He also started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 22. 

Chivas USA

Sophomore D Brendan Hines-Ike started and played 108 minutes in Creighton’s 1-0 win over St. John’s on Sept. 21. He also played 110 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Michigan State on Sept. 24.

Sophomore MF Eric Gonzalez started and played 81 minutes in UC Riverside’s 1-1 tie against CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 19. He also started, played 60 minutes and had an assist in a 2-1 win over UNLV on Sept. 22.

Freshman GK Jake McGuire started and played 90 minutes in Tulsa’s 4-0 win over Valparaiso on Sept. 20.

Freshman F Romario Lomeli came off the bench and played 58 minutes in UC Riverside’s 1-1 tie against CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 19. He also came off the bench and played 27 minutes in a 2-1 win over UNLV on Sept. 22.

Colorado Rapids

Freshman MF Ricardo Perez came off the bench and played 44 minutes in Creighton’s 1-0 win over St. John’s on Sept. 21. He also played 43 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Michigan State on Sept. 24.

Senior D Patrick Slogic started, played 90 minutes and had two assists in Cornell’s 2-1 win over Binghamton on Sept. 18. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Sept. 21.

Junior F James Rogers started and played 66 minutes in New Mexico’s 1-0 loss against Drake on Sept. 20. He also started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in a 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 23.

Columbus Crew

Freshman D Alex Crognale started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 3-1 win at Clemson on Sept 21. He also played 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Old Dominion on Sept. 24.

Sophomore D Andrew Souders started and played 90 minutes in Akron’s 1-0 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 21. He also played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Ohio State on Sept. 24.

Senior MF Eric Stevenson started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in Akron’s 1-0 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 21. He also played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Ohio State on Sept. 24.

D.C. United

Junior D Nat Eggleston started and played 80 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Jimmy Doll started and played 74 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 32 minutes in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.

Junior MF Tyler Rudy started and played 90 minutes in Georgetown’s 3-0 win over Penn on Sept. 19. He also started, played 74 minutes and scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Princeton on Sept. 22.

Freshman MF Ian Harkes started and played 90 minutes in Wake Forest’s 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 21. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over VCU on Sept. 24.

Sophomore D Jalen Robinson started and played 90 minutes in Wake Forest’s 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 21.

Freshman D Lars Eckenrode started and played 96 minutes in Michigan’s 2-1 win over West Virginia on Sept. 21.

Freshman D Patrick Foss came off the bench, played 45 minutes and scored a goal in Virginia's 4-0 win over Providence on Sept. 24. He also played 44 minutes in a 3-3 draw against NC State on Sept. 20.

FC Dallas

Junior D Boyd Okwuonu started and played 110 minutes in North Carolina’s 0-0 draw against Virginia Tech on Sept. 20. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against William & Mary on Sept. 24.

Sophomore D Mikey Ambrose started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 3-1 win at Clemson on Sept 21. He also played 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Old Dominion on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Fernando Laverde started and played 90 minutes in UCF’s 2-0 win over Stetson on Sept. 18. He also started and played 83 minutes in UCF’s 3-0 loss against Louisville on Sept. 21. He also played 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Charlotte on Sept. 24.

Junior D Jack Coleman started and played 90 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.

Freshman F Bobby Edet started and played 50 minutes in Furman’s 5-0 win over East Tennessee State on Sept. 20. He also started, played 55 minutes and scored a goal in a 1-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Sept. 23. 

Freshman MF Marco Ortiz started, played 61 minutes and had an assist in Furman’s 5-0 win over East Tennessee State on Sept. 20. He also started and played 35 minutes in a 1-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Sept. 23.

Houston Dynamo

Senior GK Patrick Wall started, played 110 minutes and made one save in Notre Dame’s 1-1 tie against Boston College on Sept. 21.

Senior D Sebastien Ibeagha started and played 90 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 90 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.

Sophomore GK Fernando Pina started and played 90 minutes in Akron’s 1-0 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 21. He also played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Ohio State on Sept. 24.

Junior D Uchenna Uzo started and played 90 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 win over VCU on Sept. 21. 

Freshman D Alex Ochoa started and played 86 minutes in West Virginia’s 2-1 loss against Michigan on Sept. 21.

Sophomore D Bradley Bourgeois started and played 90 minutes in Tulsa’s 4-0 win over Valparaiso on Sept. 20.

LA Galaxy

Freshman MF Brian Iloski started and played 44 minutes in UCLA’s 4-2 win over Cal State Northridge(m) on Sept. 22.

Freshman GK Josh McNeely started, played 90 minutes and made one save in UC Santa Barbara’s 3-1 win over Yale. He also started and played 81 minutes in a 1-0 loss against New Mexico on Sept. 23.

Freshman MF Drew Murphy started and had an assist in UC Santa Barbara’s 3-1 win over Yale on Sept. 20. He also started and played 81 minutes in a 1-0 loss against New Mexico on Sept. 23.

Junior MF David Velasquez started and played 110 minutes in CSU Bakersfield’s 1-1 tie against UC Riverside on Sept. 19.

Junior MF Lucas Dall’Orso started and played 96 minutes in CSU Bakersfield’s 1-1 tie against UC Riverside on Sept. 19.

Montreal Impact

Freshman D Kai Morton played 50 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 win over VCU on Sept. 21.

New England Revolution

Junior F Cole DeNormandie started and played 101 minutes in Boston College’s 1-1 tie against Notre Dame on Sept. 21.

Freshman MF Dominik Machado started and played 85 minutes in Providence’s 2-0 win over Boston University on Sept. 20. He also played 82 minutes in a 4-0 loss at Virginia on Sept. 24.

Junior MF Fabio Machado came off the bench, played 34 minutes and score two goals in Providence’s 2-0 win over Boston University on Sept. 20. He also played 43 minutes in a 4-0 loss at Virginia on Sept. 24.

New York Red Bulls

Junior MF Sean Davis started and played 90 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.

Sophomore F Brandon Allen started, played 59 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 3-0 win over Penn on Sept. 19. He also started and scored in a 3-2 win over Princeton on Sept. 22.

Junior MF Dan Metzger started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 3-1 win at Clemson on Sept 21. He also played 100 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Old Dominion on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Adam Najem started and played 81 minutes in Akron’s 1-0 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 21. He also played 74 minutes and had an assist in a 1-0 win over Ohio State on Sept. 24.

Senior MF David Najem came off the bench, played 54 minutes, scored a goal and had an assist in Columbia’s 3-0 win over Manhattan on Sept. 18. He also started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Northeastern on Sept. 21.

Sophomore D Scott Thomsen started and played 66 minutes in Virginia’s 3-3 tie against NC State on Sept. 20. He also started and played 45 minutes in a 4-0 win over Providence on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Alex Muyl came off the bench, played 51 minutes, scored a goal and had an assist in Georgetown’s 3-0 win over Penn on Sept. 19. He also started, played 61 minutes and had an assist in a 3-2 win over Princeton.

Freshman GK Zack Steffen started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 3-1 win over Clemson on Sept. 21. He also played 110 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Old Dominion on Sept. 24.

Sophomore D Keegan Rosenberry started and played 90 minutes in Georgetown’s 3-0 win over Penn on Sept. 19. He also played 90 minutes in a 3-2 win over Princeton on Sept. 22.

Sophomore F Darius Madison started, played 99 minutes and scored a goal in Virginia’s 3-3 tie against NC State on Sept. 20. He also started and played 56 minutes in a 4-0 win over Providence on Sept. 24.

Portland Timbers

Freshman MF James Nosack came off the bench and played 15 minutes in Washington’s 5-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast(m) on Sept. 20.

Real Salt Lake

Freshman F Coco Navarro started, played 75 minutes and had two assists in Marquette’s 3-0 win over Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 21.

Junior D Phanuel Kavita started and played 90 minutes in Clemson’s 3-1 loss against Maryland on Sept. 22. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over USC Upstate on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Jordan Allen started, played 110 minutes and had an assist in Virginia’s 3-3 tie against NC State on Sept. 20. He also started and played 78 minutes in a 4-0 win over Providence on Sept. 24.

Freshman MF Andrew Brody started and played 58 minutes in Louisville’s 3-0 win over UCF on Sept. 21. He also played 64 minutes in a 1-0 win over SIUE on Sept. 24.

Sophomore GK Kendall McIntosh started and played 90 minutes in Santa Clara’s 1-0 win over San Jose State on Sept. 19. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over UC Irvine on Sept. 22.

Freshman F Tommy Thompson started and played 78 minutes in Indiana’s 2-1 win over Brown on Sept. 20.

Junior F Nick Palodichuk started and played 66 minutes in Duke’s 2-1 loss against Syracuse on Sept. 20. He also played 58 minutes in a 2-1 win over Wright State on Sept. 24.
