Terps continue at #1; Co-Players of Week

Maryland remains at the top of the Men's College Soccer Tournament 48 National Ranking this week, following a vital 1-0 victory over ACC rival Virginia.

The ranking is an effort to project the postseason NCAA Tournament field of 48 each week, including the automatic qualifiers from every DI conference. The ranking update is posted after reviewing all results from the previous week.

New entries to the ranking this week include Cornell, Elon, Cal State Northridge(m), Bradley, Mercer, Niagara and Santa Clara.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame’s Ryan Finley and Indiana’s Eriq Zavaleta share our TopDrawerSoccer.com Men’s College Player of the Week after each scored four goals on the week in helping their teams win a pair of matches.

The entire Team of the Week is as follows:

GK: Greg Ranjitsingh, MercerRecorded 14 saves in helping the Bears to a pair of conference victories.

D: Michael King, SMU Went 180 minutes to help the Mustangs to a pair of shutout victories.

D: Amaury Ponce, SMU – Went 170 minute as the Mustangs took two shutout wins.

D: Aaron Simmons, SMU – Went 180 minutes to help the Mustangs win a pair of matches.

D:  Damian Rosales, SMU Played 180 minutes in the back as SMU won two shutout victories.

M: Reinaldo Brenes, Akron Scored twice and added an assist as the Zips took a 5-0 victory over Florida Atlantic.  

M: Eric Stevenson, Akron  Scored twice and added an assist as the Zips took a 5-0 victory over Florida Atlantic

M:  Andrew Ribeiro, Creighton – Played in midfield for every minute of two victories for the Blue Jays, adding a golden goal in the win against SIUE.

F: Gyasi Zardes, CSU Bakersfield – Scored three goals and added an assist.

F: Eriq Zavaleta, Indiana Scored four goals as the Hoosiers defeated Kentucky and Wisconsin.

F: Ryan Finley, Notre Dame Scored four times as the Fighting Irish won a pair of matches.
