UNH women lose to Dartmouth

October 14, 2009
HANOVER, N.H. – Sophomore Brooke Duchaney (Hampton Falls, N.H.) scored her first goal in a UNH uniform, but the University of New Hampshire women’s soccer team wrapped up its non-conference slate with a 2-1 loss to Dartmouth College at Burnham Field on Sunday afternoon.

With their eighth one-goal loss of the season, the Wildcats fall to 2-11-1, while the Big Green improve to 6-5-0.

Trailing 2-0 late in the 82nd minute, Duchaney beat the Dartmouth defense, pulled goalkeeper Anna Chinco out of the net and popped the ball over her head and into the back of the net to slice her team’s deficit in half. Senior Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass.) was credited with an assist on the play.

Dartmouth jumped on the board in the 26th minute when Ally Dutton’s through ball allowed Libby Hamlin to outrace the Wildcat defense and beat senior goalkeeper Ally Yost (Langhorne, Pa.) for the 1-0 lead.

The Big Green added to their lead in the 54th minute after Kelsey Quick received a pass to the right of the box from Ali Hubbard and hooked a shot into the goal, beating freshman goalkeeper Sarah Dobush (Pickering, Ontario), who replaced Yost at the half.

Yost made one save, while Dobush recorded two stops. Chinco made four saves for Dartmouth.

The Big Green outshot the Wildcats, 13-10, but UNH held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Wildcats return to action Thursday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. when they take on the University of Vermont at Centennial Field.
