Nick Richardson, a defender who was recently called into U.S. U17 National team training, has verbally committed to Maryland, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The Class of 2018 defender helped Archbishop Curley (Baltimore, Md.) to a MIAA runner-up finish in 2016. The Friars finished 19-4-2 and ranked No. 12 in the TopDrawerSoccer Mid-Atlantic Region rankings and No. 42 in the SIMA FAB 50

Richardson anchors the defense of a Baltimore Celtic team that went 5-0-2 in US Youth Soccer National League U17 play this season, allowing only three goals.

The No. 138 prospect in the Class of 2018 IMG 150, Richardson is a two-time first-team All-Metro selection. Last year, he was named to the TeamSnap Maryland all-stars. This year's TeamSnap All-America, region and state honors are not announced until July.

Richardson is the second player from the Class of 2018 to commit to Maryland joining Alessandro Milesi.
