Region, State HS Rankings: September 29
It was a big weekend for New Jersey soccer, as the boys of Delbarton School (Morristown, N.J.) thrashed a pair of New York programs, including former FAB 50-ranked Chaminade (Mineola, N.Y.), to play its way into the national title chase, and the girls at Immaculate Heart Academy toppled previously undefeated and defending New York state champion Massapequa (Massapequa, N.Y.).
The Jersey teams' showing helps validate the state's significant presence in the boys and girls regional rankings.
Elsewhere, around the country, Avon (Avon, Ind.) and Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.) boys have regained the top ranking in their respective regions, bouncing back from recent losses. The only regional No. 1 change on the girls side this week occurred in Ohio, where preseason favorite Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) is back in the top spot.
