USMNT learns WCQ Schedule

The qualifying schedule for the 2022 World Cup for Concacaf was released on Wednesday. The Hexagonal format is still in place with USA, Jamaica, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico already  in place in the final qualifying round. 

The other teams to join them will be decided in October and November with the winners from the six groups playing in a play-off and then the winner from that game reaching the Hexagonal. Those three teams will complete the eight-team final stage of qualifying. 

The top three from qualifying will earn a spot at the 2022 World Cup. The fourth place team will play in a playoff for a spot at the World Cup. The 2022 Men’s World Cup is set to kick off Nov. 21, 2022 from Qatar. 

USA’s first game of the Hexagonal will be on the road during the FIFA international window between May 31, 2021 and June 15, 2021. Sports Illustrated’s Brian Straus provided a rough estimate of the World Cup qualifying schedule for USA

Game 1 - at Group A/F winner, May 31-June 15, 2021

Game 2 - vs. Group B/E winner, May 31-June 15, 2021

Game 3 - at Honduras, May 31-June 15, 2021

Game 4 - vs. Jamaica, May 31-June 15, 2021

Game 5 - at Group C/D winner, Aug. 30-Sept. 7, 2021

Game 6 - vs. Costa Rica, Aug. 30-Sept. 7, 2021

Game 7 - vs. Mexico, Oct. 4-12, 2021

Game 8 - at Jamaica, Oct. 4-12, 2021

Game 9 - vs. Group A/F winner, Nov. 8-16, 2021

Game 10 - at Group B/E winner, Nov. 8-16, 2021

Game 11 - vs. Honduras, Jan. 24-Feb. 1, 2022

Game 12 - at Mexico, Jan. 24-Feb. 1, 2022

Game 13 - vs. Group C/D winner, March 21-29, 2022

Game 14 - at Costa Rica, March 21-29, 2022
