The weather -- and St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.) -- stood in the way of St. Charles North (Ill.) and a first-ever PepsiCo Showdown-adidas Tournament of Champions sweep.

A week earlier, St. Charles North's girls team won the PepsiCo Showdown. This past weekend, it advanced to the adidas ToC final only to have its match with St. Thomas Aquinas ended early due to heavy rain. The contest was 1-1 when the match was halted. The incomplete contest is reflected as a tie for both teams.

AROUND THE NATION: This week's girls schedule is highlighted by a Virginia No. 1 vs. No. 2 clash between Battlefield and Patriot. Both teams are 11-0. Battlefield is the two-time defending large school state champs, while Patriot features high-scoring Amanda Nhek, who went over the 100 career goal mark last week. ... On the boys side, another contest with SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 implications is slated as First Colonial (Va.) and Kellam (Va.) square off Friday. Both teams are undefeated and ranked among the nation's top 10 spring teams.
