The Cal Poly men’s soccer team enjoyed a breakout season this past year, surging into the second round of the NCAA tournament while gaining national recognition in the process.
Yes, things are abuzz in San Luis Obispo, California, and now Cal Poly will carry that momentum into its camp season.
“We really want to help young players develop and give them a sense of what it takes to play in college,” said Poly head coach Paul Holocher. “This is a fantastic chance for them to play with other great players throughout the country.”
But before providing first-class soccer instruction, Cal Poly will first entertain with the anticipated 2009 MLS Central Coast Showcase coming to town.
The event will feature a pair of MLS exhibitions in the school’s own Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

“Having professional soccer on this college campus will be big,” Holocher said. “This is really a great sports town with fantastic support and attendance. This event will be in line with that tradition here.”
