2012 Boys Top 100 Released

March 24, 2010
Today you can start to see our newest National Top 100 list, the rankings for Boys in the 2012 graduating class.

To say the least this is a gargantuan task. With several thousand players eligible in the age group, our responsibility is to find out as much information as possible about as many players as possible. We talk to coaches at all levels along with other scouting observers we trust, and go over our own notes about players who make the kind of impact you think of when you think TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100.

As always, this first effort will bring a lot of response, and it will help us improve on the list in future months (the list can be updated anytime and there is a regularly scheduled update each month).

When providing your feedback please remember a few things:

  1. We are not your enemy. We are not out to get your child.  If you want to share some information you think could help us reconsider, that is fine. But you need to do it in a reasonable way or else your message will likely be lost on us – its only normal.
  2. The rankings are not about what your team did – that is something separate and we’ll be unveiling a new TeamRank in the near future, with fan voting the means to keep tabs on top teams around the country.
  3. There are going to be differing opinions on different players, it's impossible to avoid. Our job is to try and get as many opinions as we can and then synthesize those into something worthwhile. While there will always be corrections to make, and always changes as players develop, we hear from some pretty good sources that we do quite a good job. Don’t rule out the possibility that if we disagree, we could be right.
  4. Going back to #1, remember that we don’t determine the value of your child based on their ranking or, frankly, anything else they do as a soccer player. Be careful you don’t send the implicit message to them that you do by how you react to these ratings.
  5. Remember that above all, this is all to be enjoyed. We hope you do enjoy it, and all the other coverage we provide at TopDrawerSoccer.com.
