2018 Boys Regional Rankings Update

TopDrawerSoccer.com talks a lot about the outstanding youth players in the IMG Academy 150, but there are hundreds of others in each age group that deserve recognition too. So, each Friday following the Monday release of an IMG Academy 150 update, we highlight eleven of the regionally ranked players from around the country for that class. All were recommended for their respective regional lists by our network of scouts and coaches.

John Lindquist, Midfielder, Indiana Fire Academy - A talented player on Coach Matt Schlake’s U14 Development Academy side, Lindquist has started 23 out of 24 matches in defensive midfield.

Isaiah Parente, Midfielder, Crew SC Academy – Parente was a standout midfielder for Challenger Crew Juniors last season, and was recruited by more than one Development Academy before landing at Crew SC Academy for 2014-15. As a member of Crew SC Academy, Parente has played 25 matches, starting 23.

Jacob Bernson, Midfielder, St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy – A wide midfielder for SLSG’s playoff-bound U16 Development Academy squad, Bernson has started 10 matches and appeared as a sub in 13 others, scoring one goal.

Giovanni Reyes Saravia, Goalkeeper, Arlington SA – A raw talent with huge potential, this DC- area keeper is already headed to US Youth Soccer Nationals in July with the No. 4 ranked Arlington U15 side. Arlington finished second in the USYS National League Red Division.

Matthew Barresi, Defender, Dix Hills Hurricanes – Barresi was an important piece to a backline that shutout the fourth-ranked Arlington Eagles to take home the inaugural Region I Champions League crown. He is also a two-time member of the USYS Region I ODP team.

Tyler Freitas, Defender, New England Revolution – Freitas was one of six players from the Revolution’s U14 Development Academy that participated in the Generation adidas Cup in April. He was also invited to take part in the US Soccer Boys’ National Team Futures camp.

Carlos Anguiano, Midfielder, Portland Timbers Academy – Not to be confused with Chivas USA’s Carlos Anguiano, a member of the U15 BNT, the Pac NW region’s Anguiano, a 1999 birth year, has eight goals to his credit in 31 matches for Timbers’ U16 Academy and was recently invited to a camp with the U16 Boys National Team.

Eric Virgen, Midfielder, Real Salt Lake AZ – Virgen has five goals in 28 starts for RSL’s U16 Development Academy during the 2014-15 regular season. Other accolades include an invitation to the Academy Select team for the DA Showcase in 2014, RSL’s Generation adidas team and the Generation adidas ESP Showcase last August.

Collin Turner, Forward, Baton Rouge SC – Turner was selected for a US Club Soccer id2 camp in 2013 from his play in the Gulf States Premier League. There he was spotted by our staff as a creative player who was a good outlet for teammates. Most recently, he travelled to Costa Rica as a member of the ODP Region III team.

Wesley Wesley Ayen, Forward, Carolina Elite Soccer Academy – Ayen has six goals in 14 matches for CESA’s U14 Development Academy side. He earned an invitation to a U.S. U14 BNT camp in 2013, and is a member of the U.S. Youth Futsal national pool.

Jose Luis Rodriguez Cruz, Defender, Lonestar SC Academy – Rodriguez competes for Lonestar’s U14s and U16s and has started every Development Academy match in which he has appeared (53 in all) for the past two years.
