Dallas, Texas – JANUARY 8, 2013 - Dr Pepper Dallas Cup is proud to announce the addition of the LA Galaxy Academy, Toronto FC Academy and Dallas Texans SC to the U19 Gordon Jago Super Group. These three North American sides will take on the world as the tournament rounds out the 12-team Gordon Jago Super Group which contains academy teams from eight countries and four continents.

"We are honored to participate in this year's Dallas Cup,” said Toronto FC Academy Director Thomas Rongen. “We consider the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup to be the preeminent youth tournament in the world and look forward to representing Canada and MLS."

The three North American academy teams join Manchester United (England), Club América (Mexico), Kashiwa Reysol (Japan), Fulham FC (England), Fluminense (Brazil), Coritiba FC (Brazil), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), Aalborg BK (Denmark) and Tigres UANL (Mexico) in the 2013 Gordon Jago Super Group.

"The Dallas Texans, LA Galaxy and Toronto FC represent three of the best academy programs in all of North America, and they will undoubtedly provide top notch competition to some very seasoned international teams." 

Toronto FC returns to the Gordon Jago Super Group for the first time since 2009 while the LA Galaxy, two-time reigning MLS Cup champions, join the Super Group for the first time in their academy’s history. The Dallas Texans are perennial Super Group participants and remain the last American club to win the prestigious super group.

“Given the high level of competition this tournament annually attracts, we are both honored and excited to be participating in the Gordon Jago Super Group at the 2013 Dr Pepper Dallas Cup,” said LA Galaxy Vice President Chris Klein.  

Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIV runs from March 24-31 at UT-Dallas, Richland College and the historic Cotton Bowl. The tournament opens with a blockbuster tripleheader at the Cotton Bowl on March 24 with the full tournament schedule announced at a later date.

Dr Pepper Dallas Cup is considered one of the most prestigious international youth tournaments in the world, celebrating its 34th year in 2013. Dallas Cup contains seven age groups from U13 to U19 level and entertains on average more than 160,000 spectators during the week.
